I didn't know that. Hmm figures I signed up like almost 10 years

they call you but its automated service.

You answer and automated recorded message

comes out and tells you the number in KOREAN

so if u don't understand, um I don't know how

you will actually sign up..

1213 = 1(usa country code) 213(L.A. area code).

You cannot use a fake phone number. Like ginazstyle said, its an automated call that gives you the confirmation number. You are only allowed one account per phone number, so if you want to make another account, you have to use a different phone number. It's really fast~ no stress. hah

My friends from Korea had called to my cell phone before.

It never charged on my cell phone bill.

Plus right now its free after 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM

and yup, the phone call comes instantly.

I never realized the 1st box was for my country code AND area code; so I always used to put the numbers in different boxes. =)

I always wanted to join daum so I can look at pictures..sigh..

I made a tutorial way back in December... but nothing compared in quality to this. Very comprehensive... I just want to say ix3DC did a great job.

Hopefully this topic will get pinned soon and answer questions in the future about Daum.

I haven't posted much on Soompi, but I wanted to say thank you. I will see how far I get before reaching any questions... such as the automative system calling my phone number with Korean Numbers. I do have a friend that could help me with that part. I'll have to see when she's free to translate an "message from Daum." She moved here over a year ago.

im from msia n the country code is automatically put 60, do we have to add 3 more numbers behind it? what number..

anyways, (: for the blanks, the very first one is for your name.
the second blank is a number code that koreans have--it proves that you're a citizen of korea. (99% sure)
and the last is asking a question, (a little quiz) and you have to answer it correctly to become a member of the cafe.

Hi, I'm singaporean and I managed to join. just enter 65 as country code, then split your phone number into 2 sets of 4 digits.

seemed to work for me...

Since we can just reset the password, here's the tutorial..

DAUM Password Reset Tutorial

- First of all, look for something like this in the left of index page
- Click the link to proceed (purple marked)



- The page then redirects to another
- On left hand site there is the picture
- Click the right box to reset the password




- Input your infos exactly like what you assigned during registeration
- Click the button to proceed




- Third step



- You will get to this Handyphone Authentication page
- '등록하신 정보가 없읍니다' means you dont have mobile phone no. registered
(since it's not available for me to input mobilephone no. during registeration i would skip this)
- Let's skip to Normal line authentication


- Normal line authentication



- Your phone number would appear, click the box beside to have daum call you
- Listen to the 5-letters number code carefully


- Click the '확인' button next to authentication code box


- Last step



- input your desired new password and repeat it in the below box
- the page will redirect you to another page look for some smile cartoon face; that'll ensure you that the process is okay and finished

I just registered at daum...
but of course I had to make up a korean name...
and now there is the problem:
I live in Korea, so I have an alien registration number (but not a real resident registration number).
When I want to sign up for a certain cafe, it tells me, that I have to enter my name and my number (like in post #26).
But since I can't enter my real name (there is not enough space, only half of it fits in the box..and since it is not in hangeul..... lol)...this doesn't work of course...

Maybe can someone tell me how I can sign up with my alien registration number (or if this works at all...?). Or are you just not permitted to enter a few cafes if you are not a REAL Korean Citizen?

Or maybe I should just try to join the cafe...ignoring the boxes above.... (as if it would work haha).

hello, thanks to your tutorial, i was able to make a daum account...however, i keep getting this page. what does it mean?

i keep getting that message too! on all the sites i visit, i cant do anything!

loosely translated it says:

your current status is __________
you need to be of __________ status to access this application
you need to apply for a higher status with that sites status manager
or you can achieve a higher status by being active on the site.


i know what it says, but how do i go about being active on a site if it doesnt let me access anything?

how do i raise my user status?

It's just saying that before you can gain access to stuff you have to level up.
Korean cafes are just like that for some reason. I posted a short tut on how to level up in the other thread.
Kinda too lazy to look for it though~

Okay you guys. I got stuck at the phone confirmation part because they didn't repeat it enough... I got the first half of my numbers but by the time I was getting to the last ones, they'd already thanked me and hung up. And now they won't call me again ()a Could anyone help me to get an account there now that I don't even have a way of signing up? Or do you think that trying again another day and they'll call me? I'll appreciate any kind of help that I can get.

I was wondering if the automate phone call ring to tell you the password, will it be super fast? So i need to memories the korean number? I wanted to create a daum account for so long now, i already have the tutorial but i'm scared of the phone part.

when you call, they will say the confirmation numbers twice. the first time i called, it was a little too fast for me since i couldn't remember the numbers. so after my third time calling, i decided to just type down what i heard (for example, "chil, oh, ee, pahl, etc etc...) and surprisingly i got it lol.
