I guess since you like Anthony Green you'll like The Sound of Animals Fighting, which he does the vocals for. They have an album coming out May 16th. Look them up on Purevolume for samples.
Other than that...The Get Up Kids (Four Minute Mile, Something To Write Home About).

that's extremely controversial.
if you're talking about the word on its own, it has basically progressed into a stereotype - the girls jeans, hair over eyes, studded-belts. but it's not an adjective, it's a noun; and it's basically a genre of music that can branch out into 57302 other different genres; and it's just very obscure.
so i can't give you "real emo bands", because that's all a matter of perspective, but i can give you good music. i like circa survive, hidden in plainview, etc. so i'm assuming we'll have other bands in common as well.

emo is a sub-genre of punk.
post-hardcore is a sub-genre of hardcore.
they both seem to overlap it seems since no one can classify either.
people who talk about my chemical romance say they're emo, others say posthardcore(which they are).
i'm not good at recommending emo bands.

I highly recommend Taking Back Tuesday. They have a new album coming out later this month (or maybe this week..)
& currenlty, I'm into Panic! At the Disco... reminds me a bit of Fall Out Boy, though.
heartwreckss gave a nice list, but I bet you'll have too much fun deciding who to check out. IMO:
Anberlin
Armor For Sleep
Fall Out Boy
Jack's Mannequin/Something Corporate
Mae
My American Heart
Panic! At The Disco
Quietdrive
Saosin
Senses Fail
Taking Back Sunday
Underoath
If you really aren't satisfied with wreckss' list, here's a few others from the top of my head:
Hawthorne Heights
Just Surrender
Jamison Parker
From First to Last
Funeral for a Friend
Bleed the Dream
Letterkills
Story of the Year
& lastly, you can learn more about these bands by checking out their myspace site (one of the only reasons I even have a myspace is to learn about new bands.. anyway..)

Time to clear it up a bit; enough with the pretenses.
Emo is not "emotional", emo is not a crying little boy listening to dashboard, emo is not a style, which leads to emo not being tight pants and side-bangs. Any artist would want to evince and portray emotion. "Emotional" encompasses every genre of music possible. Anything from Beethoven and *NYSYNC could be considered emo with these so-called "definitions." It was originally a movement in the hardcore genre in the 80s/90s. It has clearly progressed since then into a general misconception. 'Emo' has basically come to be a controversial genre of music that overlaps with several others. I'd like to take this moment to add that not all emo = males on estrogen complaining about failed relationships and wrist-slitting. Thaaanks.

uhh... bands like atreyu are NOT emo bands...
taking back sunday made a new band and they are pretty good...
i already know of purevolume but i'm too lazy to sift through all the bands...
fake emo music = crap that smothered on a guitar bass and drum....
don't give me none of that simple plan crap
oh yeah...
and will you guys stop complaining about what emo music really is blah blah blah!
emo music IS a genre ok...
emo music is basically bands like hidden in plain view, anthony green, panic at the disco, fall out boy etc etc... but emo music doesn't mean that they are always whining and depressed... it's the style of the music
yeah you can say that "emo" is everything because anyone can be "emotional"... but what about jazz? why can't i say it's classical music? i mean... people use pianos and trumpets and other classical instruments? it's just a name and if you can't distinguish the differences then i'm sorry...
then... like many of you say... if emo music really is "everything" why not call britney spears emo!? and shakira emo? if you guyz have such a problem with people like me asking for emo music then why don't you guyz just call everything emo?
like... you ask me the difference between different types of rap whether it be "hip hop" "ganster rap" whatever i wouldn't know....
just how you guyz probably wouldn't know the difference between bluegrass folk or soul...
just get over it please! it's not a big deal... all i wanted was a list of some good emo bands that people who like emo music like...
i don't want people lecturing me about what emo is and blah blah blah "emo can be anything" crap...
just cut the crap and give me my bands!!!!
anyways... emo is a music genre... cuz i'm surrounded by people who were the ones to MAKE it... you can't tell me that it's not a genre when i am emersed in a place with guyz who helped it sky rocket
as for emo being a style of clothing?...
NO... it's not a style of clothing...
the end...

similiar to Visual Kei as it is not a genre but a sub-genre branching off of a genre and incorporating other styles but usually still sounding very similiar to other "emo" bands. Anyways, most bands classified "emo" usually suck. I would listen to Visual Kei instead.

Emo is subjective. That's a fact. FYI, topic starter wanted emo band names, including bands "classified as emo and usually suck", not definitions or opinions or whatever your (plural) face thinks she/he wants. Suck that.

hmm that wasn't a question but ok. i already know the backround of emo. i don't like the use of the term "emo" in today's standards because of what people have made it to be and how they misconstrued the meaning....it's come to the point where it's irritating. i'll just dismiss this as a statement to everybody else because i didn't need that explanation. that is all.

Emo is like, pussified punk rock. Everyone is saying that "EMO" is not "emotional"... then what the hell is it short for? Sorry if we're "misinterpreting" things, but it's kinda hard when that's the way something is "sold as".
I've always considered Bright Eyes more as "folk" music. But I guess he's whiny enough to be "emo".
