sarah brightman - it's a beautiful day
well ironically, it seems that it's about dying. i get the impression that the song is about seeing how everything seems beautiful right before one dies, but who's to say
"With every new day
Your promises fade away
It's a fine day to see
Though the last day for me
It's a beautiful day"
anyway she sings a part that is operatic...which is creepy and breath-taking at the same time.
another song is 'she moved through the fair' which, i learned, is a traditional irish song. apparently it has a lot of versions than i can count on my fingers and toes. gotta give props to boyzone's version (that's right, you heard me, boyzone

) for making the song give off a more melancholic, romantic, tragic background music...but also it gives me the shivers, when i'm the only one at past midnight awake and listening to it.
this is a more complete variation of the lyrics, i think:
My young love said to me,
"My mother won't mind,
And my father won't slight you
For your lack of kine."
And she stepped away from me
And this she did say,
"It will not be long, love,
Till our wedding day."
She stepped away from me
And she moved through the fair,
And fondly I watched her
Move here and move there;
And then she went homeward
With one star awake,
As the swan in the evening
Moves over the lake.
The people were saying
That no two were e'er wed,
But one had a sorrow
That never was said,
And she smiled as she passed,
With her goods and her gear,
And that was the last
That I saw of my dear.
Last night she came to me,
My dead love came in,
So softly she came
That her feet made no din;
And she laid her hand on me
And this she did say,
"It will not be long, love,
Till our wedding day."

vanessa mae - 'the blessed spirits' - the beat, the choir singing, the sound of violin being played...all make me think of soldiers marching and dying

but other than the impression i have, it's a beautiful song.
