I disagree, but i dunno how to rebutt her... i think tt he is a great soccer player base on the way he kicks the free kicks, corner kicks. Maybe tts becus i do not really noe tt much abt soccer, hence, thinking tt he is a great soccer player base on all these....but if he's nt gud, y wld he be chosen as the captain? wad do u guys think?

David Beckham is the greatest free-kick hitter in the world. I believe he deserves every attention there is, he is a great friendly athlete as well. He can curve the ball like no other, curving it 85% out of a 100 where it goes. His touch with the ball is amazing, he accuracy is crazy and puts it where he wants it to go. Of course he has flaws like all lads there are, he is getting older and I believe this will be his last world cup so give him all the attention you can give him.

just go to youtube and type in beckham. his crosses are pinpoint accurate and his fastest shot on goal was 98mph? (around there).

He's good, but he's vastly overrated.

I think he's a great soccer player. I mean, there are some better ones out there but he's great no less. He put Man. U on the map. I mean, most people in the US probably don't even know anything about Brit soccer but most will know Manchester United. It's the fact that he's good and good-looking that people like him so much. I don't doubt his talent.

He is good. Is he great? Far from it, obviously he's in the spotlight because of his good looks. But you know, there are times when he shows he's got some skills. IE: that wonderful assist to Crouch that scored a goal.

He makes great frees and crosses. Great player overall.

i dont think that beckham is one of the best players in the world but i dont think that he doesnt deserve what he gets. there are only a handful of players that are better than him- currently i think that ronaldinho is the best player and maradona is the best player of all time, but that's beside the point. i mean he's with one of the top club teams, he plays for one of the best nations in football, and obviously a majority of people have to agree that he is a great player. anyways, beckham is like the first soccer player that EVERYONE knows. say beckham and 9 out of 10 people will know who he is or will associate the name with soccer. but yeah, he is an excellent player- just not the best.

It is his last world cup, I believe thats what he said. Though he is going to play for Real Madrid for a couple of years I believe or maybe just 2 years. Ronaldinho is great also, his magic on the field...but his looks are not so great.

i remember he had a penalty kick and he missed it so bad lol..he also has a very weird voice..but yea..good fashion sense and style.

LOL I remember when I first him talking, I was like, "WTF?" Cuz I had always thought that he had a low voice like Prince William, but obviously I was wrong. His voice is rather high pitched...not too high...but high no less.

Hes a great player. He has one of the best passers in the game. Hes a great dead ball kicker. He has great stamina and he plays hard and determined.

Reason why Man Utd arent doing so well is because they sold Beckham. He was their main supply of crosses etc. None else at Man Utd at the moment can do what Beckham does. So yes, Beckham is a great soccer player.

In the past, im like your friend, thinking that Beckham was rather overrated when i didnt see him perform in a FEW matches . . My judgement was kind of unfair to him because i didnt know much bout soccer then . .

IN FACT, setting the looks aside, Beckham is really capable of sending GREAT & ACCURATE passes to his teammates. He earns alot credits for assisting. In soccer, assist is certainly important.

I was in awe after watching this video.

If you're followed soccer closely, you would know that Beckham is a great player. He's a great midfield as many people pointed out.

If anything, his fame has gone against him. He's been under the spotlight more than other players. The penalty he missed wasn't THAT bad, yet the media pounced on him. English fans threatened his family and all.

I love Beckham, he's no Pele but he's a very influential player.

Plus if the attention is based on his looks, WELL DESERVED. haha

It's only because of Beckham's good looks and his wife that people start doubting his soccer skills. He is honestly a good soccer player, his passes are always strong and his strikes are accurate most of the time.

Yes, I do see the games. England is one of my favorite teams. First off, he shouldn't be captain. That honor belongs to either John Terry or Steven Gerrard who are better leaders. Beckham being captain is considered an outrage for many British fans and the only reason why he is still a captain and also in the starting XI is because the manager is loyal to him. Yes, he can cross the ball, he is a good free kick taker. Used to be a great penalty taker, but choked on a lot of them recently which is why Lampard is now the pk taker. Here's what George Best said about him. "He cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle and he doesn't score many goals. Apart from that he's all right."

He sometimes just disappears from the game, hardly getting involved other than taking corners and free kicks. Gerrard and Lampard who both have unbelievable stamina get involved by going after the ball no matter what even if its on the other side of the field. Beckham just waits and distributes. Never had a great international career either, his best years were at Manchester United. I also liked how he said that England could win without Rooney. Please...England has no chance against Brazil in the semifinals without the boy wonder Wayne Rooney. Good thing he is match fit now.
