HK singer
谢安琪-- I suppose she debuted at the same time with both 侧田 and Janice卫兰, but she obviously has a lesser popularity compared with them,
I like her voice though. I will recommend you her 愁人节
Eason Chan-- A powerful singer indeed, I still feel touch whenever I heard his 明年今日, and most of the time I think the lyrics of the his song
contribute a lot as well, 黄伟文,the lyrics writer and I like 裙下之臣。
Taiwan singer
F.I.R.- I like them since their 1st album, I was totally amazed by Lydia.
Malaysia singer
Gary Cao曹格, omg!!! Have you heard his superwoman?!
There are bunch of big name to list. XD

Chinese music can be extremely good and shocking bad at the same time
lol, WORD.
when i was in China, i heard a lot of the "popular" music, and all of it was HORRID.
reminded me of American pop from the 80s, except with annoying sound affects and flimsy vocals.
some of the less well known artists are good though...too bad they don't get as much exposure as....S.H.E. -shudders-

Eason Chen, F.I.R, Jay Chou, JJ Lin, Wen Lan has pretty nice songs too.
And I recommend a show named One Million Star. Everyone of them can sing. Like seriously.. And I always thought Taiwan is lack of talented singer. Doesn't meant to be offensive but that's how they portrait image of entertainment industry there.

Khalil has nv released a cantonese song before. He said that English and Chinese are his best language thus, he chose to release chinese albums instead of a canto album even though he is from Hong Kong.
He is an awesome singer and songwriter as well. I love how he has both the English and Chinese feel.
He is one of the chinese singers I listen to alongside with Xiaoyu, Jam Hsiao and Yoga Lin. Lee Hom is good as well.

It's sad that singers like Janice, Justin, and Kary are considered as good singers these days. Compared to the older singers, these so called "talented" singers have no voice whatsoever. Maybe they are the better individuals nowadays but they certainly lack the vocal power of a "talented" singer. I truly miss talents like Anita Mui, Leslie Cheung, Dave Wong, Jacky Cheung, Alan Tam, Faye Wong, all those 1980-1990s stars. These were the ones who were born to be on stage. Chinese singers these days can not possibly be compared to them.
There are too many idol singers out there that know nothing about singing.
But of course there are still some talented ones such as Lee Hom, Hacken Li, JJ Lin, Guang Liang, etc. I never saw Jay Chou as a good singer despite how tremendously popular he is in China/Taiwan. Sure his music is good, he's a good composer, but he does not sing good.

i'm gonna add another singer Gem Tang aka Gloria Tang..she's a '08 newcomer in HK, she's only 16 but I think she has a great voice..I think she def. has potential.
check out

I like his voice. Granted it's not the best... But he definitely more than makes up for it with his brilliant music skills. He's a musical Renaissance man. He can sing, write, compose and play instruments.

Yep, definitely agree w/ what you guys said about Jay Chou. Despite his weak vocals, his songs are very soothing and I often find myself unconciously humming to his songs.
I actually want to recommend someone from SuperGirls. She placed third in the '05 competition but I think she sings better than Yuchun (lol, no, not from dbsk), who got first place. Anyways, her name's Jane Zhang/ Zhang Liang Ying. I love her voice! It's not only empowering but also very versatile. She can sing various types of songs ranging from traditional Chinese to American R&B. Plus she has a very good English accent (well, at least compared to a lot of Asian artists

Yes, i have to agree with you, I'm looking/listening to Anita Mui's old songs on Youtube these days.
But then i think that a lot of older things are better, like how Doraemon was still Ding Dong. Even the OP sounds better back then...
Considering you also know some older singers, i was wondering do you know who sings this song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VTMWVfDJAE...feature=relatedI know Anita Mui also sang a version of this OP/ED, but i forgot who this is.

erm... sick of badly sung english? listen to his songs~ his voice is so soothing and his songs are really cute, although sometimes overly poetic. i like his old albums more than his new one. not gonna lie, his new one kinda blew chunks. =[[ his old ones all had cute themes~
Jay Chou.
whatever, he's the man. no matter how many albums he puts out, no matter how many weird songs he churns out (that cowboy MV, anyone?), he is stil the man.
