I usually go once a week. There's a place out here that has $1 bowling per game after 9pm on Monday's and Wednesday's. It's the best entertainment money can buy for $3-$4 a nite! ha ha.

The ball you use is actually supposed to be consistent with your age. Like if you're 12 use a 12 pound ball, 13, 13...etc. of course once you get past 16, you're stuck with 16 because they dont come any heavier.
Nice to know soomp, maybe ill get a hello kitty ball for jenn, maybe that'll get her bowling.
Peace!

^: No, it's not by age. For the best curves you use 11. It depends on what your technique your using. I see some 8 year old using a 10 pound ball, i dont blame him.
My highest : 210.. around there
Average: 160-180
Haven't bowled in a year... since I moved.
Edit_: How much is a game of bowling cost? For just 2 games here its 25 bucks... I was like.. wtf?! cause its only 2 bucks a game down in LA.

well, thats the way i was taught to bowl. Because for me when i was bowling on my JV/V team, i was using a 12 pound ball and the ball basically became weightless at the height of my back swing. That resulted in a loss of control. Thats when my coach told me to use his ball and it was heavier, like 3 pounds heavier. I got better control with it, but yea it took some time to get used to.
Peace!

I think an instructor would tell you to bowl with a ball that's 10-15% of your body weight, and 16lbs, of course, being the heaviest.
I used to try to bowl once a week. We have all-you-can-bowl on Tuesdays for $7.99 with shoe rental, but my friends and I have our own shoes already. I haven't bowled for two or three weeks, and a month before that time.
My handicap right now is at 141. And my highest ever, on a really good night, when I was feeling "in-the-zone" was 246. I took a picture and stopped playing for the night when it happened. I need to get my own ball though--playing with 13s. The ones at the lanes just aren't cutting it--cores are too simple.
And just to show what a loser I am, my friends and I went to Las Vegas just to participate in a bowling tournament. Then we turned around and came directly home. I think it runs in the family. My grandpa and my dad used to bowl in leagues in the Philippines and here in the states. I was using my grandpa's old 12.5-lb ball, but that thing doesn't turn whatsoever.

had to come back

coming monday will be my last bowling tournament and i'll have to retire T-T
has much as i hated the hardcore training and how my thumb got ugly over these few years, how blisters developed and the number of times i nearly sprained my wrist... i guess its one sport i wont forget

my teammates dont come on soompi but i have to get it out somewhere

i dont understand why NON bowlers make fun of this sport. they say things like they thought bowling's a club... you only take 5 steps, its not a sport, its super slack etc. non bowlers never understand how strenous it is to train 3 hours without stopping. you can't sit because you have to maintain the agression and i've been people bowl with a bleeding thumb during competitions. so many bowling mishaps happened to me and my mates but it was fun while it lasted~~~
ahhhh. didn't know where to let it out so i guess here on soompi. not many people will see it

i had my last training today:D before the big day for singles on monday. thurs will be doubles ~~ then i'll have to be a super mugger good daughter to my parents and study everyday!
