****R4/M3 FAQ****

WHAT is this R4/M3 that these people in the thread speak of?
it is a cartridge that goes into your slot-1 on your DS.
similiar to a modified/mod-chipped playstation, you can download and play the games

here's my tutorial from the older R4 (but should work the same)

^take your transflash card out of its adapter and plug it into the card reader (that comes with your R4) and follow these instructions:

i put it in the mini in its sd card and load up the ds. after you select the game button (with the pac man) you might get a buncha files

from that top screen, all the files are shown. there are 26. i dont have 26 games btw, i have the save files in there too tongue.gif.

in the windows screen in my first screenshot, the moonshl and the _system_ files were folders remember? the folders have a <dir> filename. in the tutorial you might've seen, the user probably had the games under a folder. (F:\lunar - dragon song\lunar - dragon song.nds maybe?) i'm not a computer pro, but that's what i can assume.
the games will be in nds.

press SELECT until the type of files that are shown are all games

then just scroll down your game and play.
it'll ask you to make a sav file before playing. say YES.


the R4 has other capabilities such as playing music and videos. how does moonshell work?

Yeah Jump Superstars is becoming huge in North America. It is an excellent fast paced game. And all our favorite characters are there, too crazy.

Nintendogs is SOOOO stupid, its like a stupider tomagachi, which i gave up on in 2nd grade

Nintendogs was pretty fun in my opinion. Pretty refreshing since I haven't really done one of those pet caring games in like 10 years. But I'm having tons of fun on my DS with Nanostray, Meteos, and Advanced Wars: Dual Strike. I really have my eye on Trace Memory, but I'm looking forward to Animal Crossing: Wild World and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

I just picked up Princess Peach. I have yet to play it since Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga is taking up all my time. I will tell how it is when I get a chance to play it.

Mario Kart DS is too much fun... i only have 3 DS games and i play that one non-stop...

1st = 3 wins

if you disconnect from wi-fi in the middle of a race, you are automatically given 3 losses...

Wow I never seem to notice that.. (the ratio and loss) no wonder people's losses are high. I still need to work on power sliding and snaking + all the other karts. I gotta get my OWN DS though. But that game is awesome and man Animal Crossing came out today too.. ahh two wi-fi games (ignoring Tony Hawk) harsh on the time play.

i love my pink DS!! I stupidly also bought the nintendogs which im thinking about selling it soon because it's pissing me off! I have trauma center but i cant seem to get past a certain level...it's getting really hard but i'm not giving up and i have zookeeper which is like bejeweled and it got kind of boring but it's fun at times...i really wanted mario kart though =T

I haven't heard anything about that, but I hope not because I just bought the Mario Kart bundle over the weekend and I"m loving it. Of course, I don't have wireless internet at my house so I still need to buy a router so I can play online at home. It'd be wierd if I just went to McDonalds to play online, but my college is a wireless hotspot so I'm able to play against other people online there.

I also bought Nintendogs and even though it's fun, it gets boring real quick. There is only so much stuff you can do. I was going to get Animal Crossing but they were sold out! And here I thought only silly asian kids played Animal Crossing, lol (kidding).

^ XD I got Animal Crossing. If you've played the GC version of Animal Crossing, the new one is a bit of a letdown. Not much has changed in the gameplay. It's a great game if you haven't played the GC one though. The online option for the game in my opinion is a bit ackward. The wifi setup up can be confusing. I enjoy playing the game (it's eating up all my free time and not-so-free time).

Does anyone's DS have dead pixels? Mine has like 4, 2 groups of 2. One group is far off to the side so I can't really notice it but the second group of 2 is noticibly on the left side. I was wondering if I should exchange it for a different DS.

I bought the Mario Kart bundle so if I exchanged it, do you think they'd let me keep the game (because all my high scores and stuff are on there) and give back the new game? Also, how would I know the new DS wouldn't have dead pixels as well? I don't suppose they'd let me keep returning the DS bundle until I got one without dead pixels, do you? Anyways, I'm going back to Best Buy tomorrow to see if they'll let me exchange.

Well, when did you buy your Mario Kart bundle? All games/game systems have a manufacturer's guarantee to be free from workmanship defects. If Best Buy doesn't let you exchange ('cause you didn't buy their dumb warranty)... try emailing Nintendo to see if they'd replace it for you. The dead pixels should be covered under Nintendo's warranty.

I went back to Best Buy and I got a different one. The cool thing is, I asked the customer service lady if I could exchange the games (in order to keep the old Mario Kart because it has my record and best times, etc) and she let me keep both games. She said they only needed the unit back so I could keep the games. Awesome! I think I'm going to sell the second game so I can buy another game with the money, lol.

The best place to get game reviews that's not biased *cough*ign*cough*gamespot* is metacritic.com. I think they're more reliable because they don't put up reviews for a game unless they get more than 25 or something from a lot of different game review sources so it isn't all biased.

I'd recommend (mind you, these are the games I've played) Mario and Luigi Partners in Time, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, and Advanced Wars. I would recommend looking into games with ratings 70-100 (haha obviously) and not waste your time with games with rankings lower than that unless there's a title you absolutely love that got bad reviews.

Yes, you can play GBA games on the DS. It's pretty awesome because I don't own a GBA/sp...yet..lol. Today's Christmas and I wonder what that small box in the shape of a GBA sp has nestled inside??!!

O_o All the major retail stores (Target, Walmart, Toys R Us...) should have DS bundles with games. The main DS bundles are Super Mario (N64 version) w/ silver/blue DS, Mario Kart w/ red DS and Nintendogs w/ turquiose/pink DS. If you go to smaller game stores, you might find other bundles. Like I know EB Games offers a Pacman bundle.

I got mario kart ds yesterday and I love it.

i would recommend you get a router. that way you can connect any subsequent computers you have to the internet and play WiFi anywhere in your house. good for bathroom entertainment, lol!
