^ mmhmm (well cept for the fact that she died in the end...boo) but besides that I loved how the relationship between her and asou was like evident, but it didn't have to develop further for us to know that it was a relationship. I liked how the drama was more focused on like...her determination and stuff. LOL

totally agree. biggrin.gif

it makes this drama unique, different from the rest of the dramas about a dying guy/gal. as they tend to be cheesy.
FORTUNE.FADED--<3
Aw this drama had me bawlin' sad.gif

But I LOVED it smile.gif It bothered me how they didn't hug/hold hands/kiss at all in this movie..at leats I don't think. I was anticipating it throughout this drama..but sadly it did not happen.. But oh well it was a great drama anyways! laugh.gif

lol, i finally rented the series and am almost done watching it! only 2 more episodes to go!! gosh, it's so GOOD!!! the acting and the cast are like WOWWWW!!! O0O they make it seem as if THEY'RE the actual people themselves!! wow.. just wow.. lol.. and "Aya" plays her character very well!! she's so cute, pretty, and tomboy in a way! lol. and Asou-kun (forgot if that's his name or not, haha) is so sweet haha~ at first, his hair bothered me HAHAH!! but after a while, i really like the couple! ^-^ gosh, i cried during EVERY single episode!!!!!!!! *sob*

and mom was all like "why the heck did u rent such a sad drama?!!?" but i really don't regret ever renting it@!! it's one of the best j-dramas i've seen!! >-< but now that it's almost ending... im growing more and more sad, knowing that she's gonna die..

I managed to finish this dorama in 2 days on spring break. o.0
I wish Haruto and Aya hooked up; they would be a really cute couple. happy.gif The ending was predictable and I thought she survived. lol

BEST DRAMA I'VE EVER SEEN!

You might be sick yourself with all the dramas from both K/J-dramas on people with debilitating health problems… but I think this one is different from all of them. Not only because it’s based on the diary entries of the real Aya, but because it’s told from such a simple, tender viewpoint. There’s no sissy and stupid love triangles, no running desperately around like a headless chicken wishing ‘I should have told him!’ and no endless crying and sooking. It’s simply about a 15 year old school girl trying to live, and to live happily at that. What’s even better is that every episode ends with a quote from the real Aya’s diary… it makes it all the more heartwrenching to watch. Finished the series about 2 months ago and it's the bloody awesomest! I wish I have the sort of courage Aya had, she’s amazing…*cries* And Erika Sawajiri portrays her wonderfully; that lovely, innocent teenager full of life and love, wondering why she’s been struck down by such a horrendous disease but still finding the courage to smile and laugh. I’ll never forget that moment when the doctor confirmed the disease to Aya and she let her tears fall… it was so real >.< Erika is definitely going to make it big, if she hasn’t already!

Took the words outta my mouth. biggrin.gif I've lurked on this thread for a while now, but now I guess it's time to insert yet another glowing review and re-emphasize what everyone else has probably already said, because this show deserves it.

I've been all around the block about those exact points, trying to tell fellow drama watchers that Litre is the way a sickness drama should be done. You're 100% right about writers usually exploiting the entire disease plot in favor of formulaic love triangles/squares, and pathetic, overdone, overcried, draggy, completely pointless, wishy-washy self wallowing that never seems to end. *coughAutumnInMyHeartcough*

But Litre was like, Finally, somebody got it right!! I've always felt that this story was told soooooo beautifully. Everyone and everything was connected so flawlessly, every character's past, their hurts, their fears, their aspirations, their reasons for everything they did, it was ALL COMPLETELY DEVELOPED. Most K-dramas can't even fully develop their two main characters in 20-some episodes and Litre did everybody and their neighbor in just 11.

I especially liked Ako because she really had a heart of PURE FRICKIN' GOLD. The relationship between her and Aya was so touching that I probably cried more over their moments than Aya and Haruto's moments. Don't worry, I cried plenty for them too, but those sister moments really got to me. I tried to imagine what it would be like if I'd ever promised my oldest sister I'd fulfill her unfinished dreams. tears.gif

This is the only thing I've ever watched where I was straight out bawling. I went through three tissue boxes total but my friend Neb assures me she went through one box for each episode after 3. dry.gif

I completely agree with everything you have said. the plot, the characters' development, the relationship between them were all so well created. i literally cried. it wasn't long, dragging or anything. it didn't frustrate me like other korean dramas. seriously, this is one heck of a drama.

iluxxx
Where can I download this- english hardsubbed?
Pref. clubbox ;D

I managed to catch a few episodes, and it's pretty sad.
Seldom into J-drama, but now, I've decided to give this a shot ;D

I wont be impatient
I wont be greedy
I wont give up, Because everyone takes things step by step
I am not the only one in pain
Not having other people understand
Not understanding others
Both of those are awful

My life is like a blossoming flower
From the starts of my youth
I want to have no regrets and treasure it...

Okaasan, in my heart there always exist the okaasan that I believes in me
From now this point forward, I leave it to you
I am sorry for always making you worry
If it's not for this disease
Maybe I could have succeeded in love
I wont to be hugged tightly by someone

I really want to be, I already dont want to say that I want to goback to that day
I want to accept me now and live on.. eventhough I will also be hurted by those heartless glance
but also, I understand at the same time gentle glances exists..

Even though it's like this I still want to be here
because here is the place I exist..

What's wrong with falling down?
Because as long as I stand up again, it'll be just fine

If you look up at the sky after falling down,
The blue sky is also today, strecthing limitlessly and smiles at me
People shldnt dwell on the past,
It's enough to try your best in all that you're doing now

Such inspiring lines.

After a couple of months, i finally finished it. I wan't in the depressing mood. but i have to agree, it's really good. Usually, I avoid sad dramas, but I couldn't help being addicted to this. I should catch up on Attention Please.. can't get enough of Ryo
keauxz
I don't feel like going through 68 pages, but does anyone know where i can get this diary of hers?! It is so hard to find it!

I've been the xanga site with the translation, but that doesn't do it all for me. Does anyone know the Japanese site I can order the diary from? I know there isn't an english published one but I want to publish an english one for everyone, but i need to get the original diary first.

I'll scan all the pages from the japanese diary one, and translate it and print it from a book company here and sell it to people who want it.
coolieever
yea, i agree with everyone, this is an awesome drama, and i love how there wasnt any of those dramas that revolve around the love triangles and how this focuses on how someone is just trying to live, ive watched this drama so many times, i still tear up every time, although i thought her death could have been a little more.... dramatic? but its still good
endlessrain
yeah i agree, her death shoulda been a lil more dramatic, it was like oh and she dies at the ending, haha but its ok, great drama, one of the saddest, if not the saddest. =[
crazyMuka
^ Well, I'm glad her death wasn't more dramatic... I bet in real life, her death came just as peaceful as that, it's like she was just sleeping, you know. Because it was so peaceful and calm, it actually makes her death a lot more realistic, and I think that must have been the way her parents wanted the directors to portray it.
roaceica
just finished watching the drama and i must say(as what everyone says) IT IS ONE OF THE BEST DRAMAS EVER!!! made me cry buckets...starting from ep8 onwards the drama just made me cry...

wish there were more dramas like these nowadays...

Man, this drama was so friggin' sad. OMG!!! I was tearing up at the part when Aya's little brother's friends made fun of her and he was kinda embarrased of her. that was one of the most touching parts of the drama. omgg I finished this drama last week and it was so heartwrenching T_T.. Erika Sawajiri did so great in portraying Aya, as well as Yakushimaru Hiroko (the person who did Aya's mom).. the drama had everything that I wanted in just 11 episodes.. the ratings for this show should've been higher smile.gif

but anyway.. uhm does anyone have Only Human by K?? I've been looking everywhere for it and most of the links don't work xD thank you so much!!!

I don't think I've ever watched something like this sad.. but it does give hopes to people.. that such a disease does not mean giving up.
I admire Ikeuchi Aya-san for her courage and her undying will to live.. RIP.
