this drama was really good.. made me cry so much T__T;; tears kept coming out.. i cried even more than other dramas i've cried in because it's a true story and i was like.. "wow... what if my life was like that.." and yeah... so sad
R.I.P to Aya...
and yes.. ryo was very cute here & i loved how he protected aya so many times and how he was always there for her!! so cutee <3 its hard to believe that his character wasnt a real character.

It would've been more tragic if he was.
ahh ryo-chan. <3

sorry i didn't look through all the pages to see if this question was answered or not...
i REALLY want to purchase this series..of course YESASIA overpriced the series ($200), no way am i spending that much money for only 11 episodes...much less i don't think it's worth that much..so i did some researching and found this:
SensasianIt's at a REALLY good price at about $19..my only concern is why is the price soo low?? considering Jdorama are extremely expensive..have any of you guys bought this version from sensasian and if so how good/bad are the subtitles?? thanks

you can use download manager so that whenever your downloads are always interrupted, you can continue downloading... or if you want, you can pause it then continue the next day

I just finished watching this drama, and I absolutely LOVE IT!
It's definitely one of my favourite drama!
>< Made me cry sooo much
I love how it's not completely focused on romance, but it showed all the love that the family provided
This gave me a new outlook on life =)
and it inspired me so much
It's amazing how she could go through all of this, and never give up...
It'll make me thinnk twice before complaining about the little things in life..
I would recommend this to EVERYONE! lol

yeah i agree this is a super great show. i finished watching it in 3 days even when i am having my o's. haha. i think she did a great job is acting aya. like being optimistic and a little pitiful at the same time. true that its a pity asou character is fictional, but come to think about it, it would really be a tragic if his character is real. and i just realised that senpai is L in death note =x guess im kinda slow. haha.
to those who have not watched this show, please take some time to watch it. it's really meaningful and we should really appreciate our lives more.

I finished watching till the last episode last sunday..and i manage to shed a drop of tear

but in my heart i've already sheded more than 1 litre of tears..
i'm quite a 'hard' person and this is actually my first time crying over a drama..loool..but i think it was well sheded..
i felt so sad looking at Aya struggling and fighting on for her disease even though it was incurable..
her fighting spirt really inspired me to treasure my life more.. for me the last episode was the killer..i was so sad that i didnt wanna watch anymore..
and to think it was a true story really kills me..

Never really expected something to top Sekai no Chuusin ai no Sakebu, but after watching this, this really topped it! Great potrayal by Erika Sawajiri of Aya who never gives up from the moment she learnt about her illness. The plot was from a real-life diary and it was written perfectly for the drama even with a fictional character like Asou Haruto. The pacing never lagged and everything went by flawelessly and you really feel for Aya in almost every episode.
the scene at the bridge between Aya and Haruto where she said "Bye Bye!" and Haruto could only hold on to her wheelchair without saying anything, that was very well-done.
Definitely getting the DVD set.

And everybody thinks that i cry all night (which i am ^^), and trying to comfort me (they think i have some kind of problems in my life ^^). But i'm too shamed to admit that i'm swollen because of this drama ^__________^
Btw, i really love this drama!!!

Lucky you, I'm still trying to get a hold of the movie, just to see how different it is from the drama since the drama is already one of my favs. Btw, I'm glad this thread is still doing very well, despite the fact that the drama ended almost a year ago. It seems like more and more people watch this as time goes by

for those who are looking for the rest of the episodes, it's all in youtube. I watched everything in youtube over the course of two days.... as many of you have said, it DEFINITELY is more than 1 litre of tears..
the real Aya must have been so brave. She didn't even have any Ryo by her side to give her that extra boost of courage..
kickazzkris
Nov 26 2006, 09:40 PM
wow..i just finished this drama in 2 days!..and all i can say is..i cried more than 1 LITRE OF TEARS!
i must've cried BUCKETS!!!, i was crying from episode 1 'til episode 11!..it's a very touching story that will defenitely pull your heart strings..though it's sad, it tells you a story of great courage and teaches you the value of time, family and friends. You can't help but admire the courage and optimism of not only Aya but her family and everyone close to her as well..they're all warriors..while watching this drama, i realized that my problems and obstacles that im facing right now, are nothing compared to what Aya and her family went through, though despite all that, they all still managed to have hope and put a smile on their faces...
so KUDOS to everybody involved in this drama especially the actors/actresses, they gave their characters justice and showed the audience the raw emotions of people who are going through this type of difficulties.

I thought the scene when Asou Haruto(Ryo) came running to the zoo just to tell Aya(Erika) that Matsuyama Ken’ichi(forgot his name) wasn't coming. the part when she turned around and saw Asou with the umbrella over her so she wouldn't get wet.

so cute.

This really is a wonderful and memorable drama. I went back to watch it the second time and my family members actually watched it with me this time. My older brother was like, "umm...put on that movie (it was actually the drama)." and I found out it was 1 Litre of Tears because we watched it yesterday but didn't finish it. LOL I was so surprised becasue he rarely watch anything I watch and always critcized everything I like but not this one.
Since I watched it with english subtitles, I have to translate what they were saying to my mom. She really enjoyed the drama too becasue she was shedding tears here and there.
This is definitely one of my favorites=)

It is a true story. The only fictional thing is Ryo. There really wasn't a "Ryo" in her life; her mom just wanted the people to put that in because her daugther never had the chance to fall in love.
There's pictures at the end of the credits and quotes from her diary~ How did you still think it was fictional? ._.; It's awesome~

Anyone know what really happened to Haruto in the end?
In my opinion it seems as though the director wanted to convey that Haruto recently died. Because when the main character was playing basketball alone in heaven (no others she knew died) Haruto showed up because he also died, and she greeted him with a smile.
