twinkie_kimmy, SP is for special. Basically it's a special episode/extra that is added on after the series.
If you know Korean, there's a Korean subbed one you can watch here :
http://www.pandora.tv/channel/ch_main.asp?...0&categ_id=The English sub hasn't been released yet, I think...

Haruto is a made-up character. I was pretty disappointed when I found out, but that made the drama more interesting

plus, Ryo did a good job playing that character

Haruto was made up because sadly, the real Aya didn't get to experience a first love so her mother asked them to write in a love-story for her. (I read this somewhere, forgot where, sorry)

Can someone romanize Asou-kun's speech at the end of ep. 9 for me??? The part where he says:
Is it okay if I say what I'm feeling right now?
I don'tt know what's going to happen in the future.
But right now, what I'm feeling is 100% not a lie.
I can say that with confidence.
For me, as long as it's you saying it, it doesn't matter how slowly you say ...
I'll still listen.
If you can't talk over the phone, then I'll come to see you, just like this.
I'm not a dolphin. You too, you're not a dolphin.
If you want to walk, no matter how slow it'll be, I'll walk with you.
Right now, I might not be that reliable.
One day, maybe I'll be able to help.
Things can't be the same as they were before, but there's this kind of feeling linking us together. I don't think that we're living in different worlds.
I, with regards to you, I like you (Ore, omoi no koto, suki??). Maybe. I like you, maybe. Probably.
Thank you!!

Asou talks too fast so I couldn't catch some of it. ><
I'm not sure if this is right. :x

Dramas with incurable disease themes are pretty cliche but I think that the jdrama ones are much better than the korean ones because they are actually memorable and nice to watch. Many korean ones are wayyy to draggy for my taste, which makes it annoying to watch.
i feel you about the incurable disease theme. i'm korean, but it's true. when i find out one of the main character has an incurable disease, i hate it. it drags everything out so i have to sit there and watch a couple of episodes with the character in pain. but i love it anyway<3

seriously... when i saw stairway to heaven... i said when the main girl was about to die...
die already.... im not a mean person but the story was so stretched that i personally wanted to kill her myself already...
thats why i switched to watching from korean dramas to japanese dramas
1) they are SHORT and go straight to the POINT
2) they have different stories like Kurosagi (totally different)
1 litre of tears is an excellent J-drama beause the characters are lovable and are really enjoyable to watch.

I finally got around to watching this drama and I must say, this has got to be one of the best drama I've ever seen. It was so freaking sad, especially because it was based on a true story. I didn't cry as I expected, but I was very close. I thought the way people looked at her was very mean .. especially her classmates. I love her quotes .. it's very deep and meaningful. I can't wait until the SP gets subbed in English!! 1 LITRE OF TEARS ROCKS!!

^ ah~ thank you so much for that link.
i was browsing through ryo's profile and came across the fact that 1 litre had an special episode aired not too long ago. (march i think?) i was like omg.... 0.0. i loved this jdrama to bits. both because it was my first one and partly because it had affected me a lot.
for anyone who hasn't watched it, if you are looking for a heartfelt tearjerker, this drama is definitely for you. It's not really based on romance and typical love triangles like most dramas these days but focuses the relationship between family members and the willingness to live. it's a really beautiful, well made drama.
you'll cry at least once in the drama if not a whole liter.

Amusing really, I've seen 1 Litre of Tears, Nobuta wo Produce, Gokusen, Gokusen 2, Summer Snow, Hana Yori Dango and Hana Yori Dango 2, and the only drama out of them I dont cry in, is the one called "1 Litre of Tears"

I cried when I watched Aya said "Will I ever get married ?"..If i was given that question by person like Aya..I might don't know what to say. It just simple words, but it had a lot of meanings...She is very strong and look forward. Two thumbs !!

^ especially since her speech wasnt good when she asked that.
The thing I think that was good about this drama, is when someone is in a wheelchair and has diseases like Aya did, some people look down on them. As if they're not human. But this drama shows that there was a person behind that sick girl. That she wanted to play basketball, had friends, fell in love, and had ambitions.
I thought the saddest parts, were when she had to go and stay at the disability school (since she was reluctantly compromising the small bit of normality she had, like living at home and going to school), and when she called Haruto and cried because her speech was starting to go.
