ya i agree the special episode is filled mostly w flashback scenes.
imagine a 2hrs long episode w more than half of it being flashback...
so if u looking for new stories/developments after Aya's death, u might b disappointed.

hmm.. i also like the quotes the director puts at the end of each episode. some are really touching and abit sad. i thought one litre of tears was ok.. but i stopped watching it after a couple of episodes because i got scared since i already know the ending.. plus, i didnt want to cry!

my friends were the ones who recommended it to me and it got somewhat depressing in some of the eps.. T__T

I loved this drama, it was so sad.

I'm disappointed that the Special didn't show the scene where Aya is giving a speech to her class, then the whole class sings sangatsu kokonoka to her before she leaves for another school. That was my favorite moment in the series.

By the way how manys years have passed in the Special?

I loved watching this drama, I was so sad when watching it but it was so good! I swear, I cried during every episode. T_T I bet it's because of the music and stuff, hahaha!!

wahh . i finished the whole series today .
i really was on tears on episode 6. when hiro told his soccer friends that aya taught lots about soccer.
and then when his friends saw aya at the soccer store they were all like woah.
and when hiro forgot his tutiton , ako went to the practice and his friends were making fun of him and hiro didn`t stand up for aya. ako got really pissed and dramatic.
that was the episode that got me crying . lots.
about 10 litres .

wow. just finished watching the special. i started crying the first minute and didn't stop until five minutes after it ended.

this show really makes me appreciate everything that i have, everything that i can do, and everyone i have around me. i don't take things for granted as much as i used to. when i fail something i try it again. everytime i start something new and i am nervous about i was think about the one line where she says we have to try our best at what we do now. or something like that. i probably butchered that line...

i try to tell this show to my friends and they are like wow that's sad but don't fully like understand it. i think that everyone should watch this drama because it can definitely change your out look on life.

i was kinda mad that they didn't show the part where Aya talked to her classmates about her disease in the special. its my favorite part in the whole series.

Omg I tell u ...this movie I watch it during school days ... Omg the next day I went to school my eyes was like swallon ... This story is not much about girl boy friend love its more to family love ... And since its more to family love .. I can feel it totally .. I tell u this drama cost me 10 litre of tears !!! Highly recomended to see *tumbs up !!!

Erika Sawajiri AKA Aya AKA Kaoru Amane BTW, in case some of you dont know, this is another SAD j-drama of Erika. man that girls loves dying. but i didn't cry in that drama, because i have no more tears from crying in 1 Litre Of Tears.

I've been waiting so long for the SP with subs to be released and it was worth the wait! Even though they had just compiled scenes from the series, I think they've chosen the best ones for the viewers to reminisce about. I love the cast (although they didn't show the grown-up version of Hiro).

All in all a great drama and a great SP! Makes me wanna watch the series again!

Oh and the two doctors are so handsome! Ryo! lol

I forgot to post here but (I did in the Ryo thread). I finally watched the SP.. it's still so sad adn so sweet at the same time. I love it.. I feeeeeel like I want to see more of this drama.

^ understood. but it's a sick drama, if it's longer than that it'll be a k-drama, and you know k-dramas DRAGGGGGGGG sick or not sick. lol . my guess is, if 1 Litre Of Tears dragged, it wouldn't be as popular, but still popular as hell.

but damn, i'm a little disappointed in the SP. you know, they should have shown Erika at the end...like, maybe sitting happily somewhere with her school uniform smiling at Ryo, then Ryo burst out crying with a slight smile but doesn't move because he knows she's gone forever . then they play that "only human song"

OR, show her at the end with her red basketball outfit at the basketball court making a shot, then turned and smiled to Ryo saying "nice shot eh?" (picks up her ball, but does not walk to Ryo.) then Ryo, holding in his tears reply "you have to promise me, to live on" (in VERY sad tone) . Erika nods with teary eyes, slightly waves good bye, that's when Ryo will burst out crying with his head down, and when he lifts it back up, Erika's gone but her basketball is there. THEN, they play that sad as.s "only human song"

BUT, unfortunately, i have to stop imagining.

i thought i would cry since its mostly flashbacks but i was wrong I was still moved! Im glad i gave this drama a chance after the constant bugging of my friend. It has changed my views about how important life is.

Yeah, I agree that I wouldn't mind reading the book. I wonder if they had translated it in english? Anyways, I really liked this series. Aya is really cute and she doesn't even have perfect teeth! I like the main lead character too, he is good looking. I never knew that he was a singer so it really surprised me when I saw his two band/groups that he was in. I know I didn't cry 1 litre, but I think that I cried 1 cup of tears (plus I didn't see all the episodes, but my mom did.). I can't wait to see the SP!

is the special worth watching?

i'm half way through with the drama... the box set i bought had horrible english though. so even though the drama's depressing, we can't help but laugh sometimes at the words on the screen ><

^omg i hate when that happens. it's like i'm ready to cry but then i end up laughing because the subs are that horrible. but good god i watched this drama online with perfect engsub.

and the SP is ok, it's not worth watching and is worth watching.

these are the parts that is worth watching in the SP:
-When Asou told the mom, sometimes he really really really want to talk to Aya
-Of course when Asou cries
-where it shows he STILL has Aya's phone number and called her and then CRIED his butt off

that's pretty much it. 95% is flashback.

it's not your typically "girl and boy fall in love, but girl dies" story. there's a lot of depth in the story and actually teaches you a lesson. i cried a whole lot, but it was totally worth it.

It's just about what happens to the character in the future.
But it's mostly just flashbacks.

When I read the synopsis on it I was hoping that all of it would be in the present and that they'd just mention how Aya had impacted them and stuff. =/ I was disappointed.

i just finished watching 1 litre of Tears like couple of days ago and omo, it's so sad ~!!
i heard about this dorama a while ago but then couldn't bring myself to watch it cuz i know i would cry lots.
but then, after watching it, it's worth it. like totally ~ even though it's depressing, it's inspiring~

&& the special, although it is like 95% flashbacks, i still think it is a good 'movie' to watch cuz it shows how the story of Aya still impacts people to keep surviving on. And plus, the part when Asou-kun called Aya's cell, not only the fact that he still has her number breaks my heart, but he's still using the dolphin cellchain that he bought for himself and one for Aya when they went to the aquarium~ T_T
i realized, that Asou-kun had stayed with her for 10 years, and even after 5 yrs of her death, he still cries about it. *sighs*

Not only the dorama is good, the soundtrack of it are awesome too. I'm so addicted to Only Human and Konayuki <3 <3 Even just by listening to the song can make me teary-eyed ><;

AHHH. i should stop. before i go writing an essay, anyhow. it's a good show ne~ Don't be afraid to watch it because it's sad. Watch it for Aya Kito's sake, for those people who are going through this disease~ =]

This drama was really nice. So many sad moments! Sawajiri Erika was so awesome in this.

I watched about 10 minutes of the SP, but I couldn't take it anymore. It was so uninteresting. lol Maybe because Aya was already gone.
