LOL, it's funny because my dad is the one that made me watch the drama.
He started watching it because he became a fan of erika and he forced me to watch it.
I'm glad I watched it because it was such a good drama and I cried sooooooo much.
I'm watching it again today.

I watched the whole thing about a week ago. I actually really liked it. Erika Sawajiri did a really good job of playing Aya because it's hard for many actors to put themselves in the role of a sick person with an incurable disease (like being able to express what the character is going through in a way that makes a lasting impact on the audience), and she did a good job with it. Overall I thought that the acting was great by everyone on the show. It's also a really sad drama and the fact that this was based off of a true story makes that much more of an impact on the viewer.
I thought this was a "breakthrough performance" by her. I'm really looking forward to seeing her in more dramas!
By the way, Erika is reeaaallllyyy cute, especially when she smiles haha.
coffee1212 knows what i mean LOL
Oh and she is a verrryyy talented actress - another good performance in "A Song to the Sun (タイヨウのうた/Taiyou no Uta)"
IN ADDITION - One part that really made me sad was when she was in the hospital and she tried calling her family in the middle of the night with a pay phone, but she couldn't complete the call because she kept dialing the wrong numbers or took too long to dial, so she ended up falling asleep by the pay phone in her wheel chair until her mom came to help her and she started crying in her mom's arms about why the disease chose her and asking her mom to save her...

I watched this drama a few days ago.. It broke my heart.
I'm not gonna explain it though because everyone else probably knows what I'm talking about.
A new outlook on life, the want to work harder, sudden inspiration to help find the cure to that disease, etc..
It makes me sad, it does.

GO WATCH THE DRAMA!!!
The drama was what started the unstoppable tears of fans everywhere. A wise choice would be to prepare a box of tissues... make that two boxes.

Looved this drama. It's so sad! I didn't really cry A LOT, like sobbing-wise, but I did cry. The girl was so pretty and like ):, ahh. She did a great job acting her part!!
I actually found a Xanga blog where the owner was translating the actual book, One Litre of Tears, into English so people could read it, but she never finished and is doing like one entry once every .. few months or something.
http://www.xanga.com/OneLitre < This is the site, if anyone is interested.

Okay, seriously, this is the best drama I've ever seen. And it makes it even more touching that it was based off of a true story.
I really liked the theme song of Aya and Haruto (and HOLY SMOKES, Asou-kun is HOT!). I also liked how the romance progressed in the series... I didn't cry a liter of tears, literally, but I've never cried as much as I did when I saw this drama.
And...I finished it all in one weekend.

But now I need to go see the special extra thing they have on Haruto!!!

^ Ah, yeah, I read that part about Asou-kun while I was in the midst of watching it. But it doesn't take away from Aya's work at living, right? (At least, not to me

). But you're so lucky! I want to buy it... Do you know if it comes with English subs? And what region DVD player you need to have?
EDIT:
Oh, I saw the special, too. I was kind of sad that over half of it was just cut scenes from the series, lol, but it was still good. I was happy that it showed what happened to Asou-kun after Aya's death (though he's fictional).

this is 1 drama which i really cried.... felt so fortunate after i watched this show... the songs are also very nice!!!
this show is very inspiring... made me realised how fortunate and blessed we are... there are so many people who are worse off than us...
instead of complaining about life, i guess we need to count our blessings and be contented...o .
