AHHHH have you guys heard Jessica Simpson's new song — I Belong To Me? Wow. If you don't belong to anyone, then stay single your whole life. When you're in a relationship, you're kinda obligated to give part of yourself up. Apparently that's too much for her to handle... Poor Nick...this is such a cold song. Lyrics posted below:
----------------
Oh yeah
It's not that I dont wanna share my life with you baby
It's just that I'm the one I need to be true to baby
And I won't give up me to be part of you
It's not that I dont want to have you in my life baby
it's just you gotta know that its got to be right baby
before I open up my heart to you
I dont need somebody to complete me
I complete myslef
nobody has got to belong to somebody else
I belong to me
I don't belong to you
my heart is my posession
I'll be my own reflection
I belong to me
I'm one not half of two
and if you're gonna love me
you should know this baby
I belong to me
I gota let you know before I let you in baby
that who I am is not about who I am with baby
That don't mean I dont wanna be here with you
I do
I dont need somebody to complete me
I want you to know I give all my love but
I'm not givin' all my soul
I belong to me
I don't belong to you
my heart is my posession
I'll be my own reflection
I belong to me
I'm one not half of two
and if you're gonna love me
you should know this baby
I belong to me
Oh yeah
Love don't mean changin who you are to be
who somebody wants you to be
nobody has got to belong to nobody
I belong to me
I don't belong to you
my heart is my posession
I'll be my own reflection
I belong to me
I don't belong to you
my heart is my posession
I'll be my own reflection
I belong to me
I'm one not half of two,
and if your gonna love me
you should know this baby
I belong to me

I read somewhere that it was written about her new independent life without Nick.

It wasn't even written by her, at least not completely. It was written by Dianne Warren (the woman behind "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" and "Wishing On The Same Star").
I, personally, like the song, and yes, she has admitted in the A Public Affair special on MTV that the song gave her the strength to move on. However, I don't think it's a statement against Nick, rather, it's a statement against people judging her for choosing to get a divorce. A lot of people in unhappy marriages state that the primary reason why they're unhappy is because they feel they've lost their sense of self-worth, and this song expresses that, and expresses it well.

I don't even think Nick cares anymore (or at least he shouldn't)...
he's moved on with his life and already has a serious gf
as for Jessica, well, she has her patheticness to dwell in.

I fell in love with this song when I first heard it. I think it has a great message for girls out there. It's just saying that we don't need a guy to complete us. Independent and strong, that's how we should be.
I don't think this is a cold song at all.

^ I think so too.
It's just a song that Jessica sings, and it so happens to be during this time. But, I can't help thinking that she has an opinion in the songs selection and she might've chosen this one subconsciously?
