kiki Haha...it's okay...we all have our lazy days! Hehe! biggrin.gif! LJ? Sorry...I'm a bit slow...so I'm probably going to be looking at that for a while before I finally know what it says...hehe! sweatingbullets.gif ! But thanks anyway! biggrin.gif
um....there's another method. I assume u r using PS 7?
If yes, then.....you can use "circular vignette" effect. Go to Blending-->Styles-->Image Effect.
Circular Vignette is on the first row, third column. After you pick that, you can adjust for the diameter of "white circular effect" by adjusting the "scale" under "gradient overlay" option.
Eh, I hope u get what I'm trying to say here sweatingbullets.gif
If not, lemme knw....

go back maybe 10 pages or so?? i know that i've tried to explain gradients a good few times in this thread, and im sure a lot of other people have =P if i have time i'll make you another tut, but for now>< i have to sleep~

actually.. since you said you know that its a gradient, and it seem syou know how to use gradients, you know where you click the gradient bar, and the selection of gradients is shown, if you click it again a color pallet should pop up, then by change the colors on the little arrow thingys

the circles can either be a brush or a custom shape =P

Also on that picture (nicely captured m1d0r1j4d3!) you see the tab title in bold named 'Layers'.
Right below that title, you can see a drop down menu with 'Normal' selected.
If you click the downward arrow next to the word 'Normal', you'll get a list of Blending Modes you can choose from. And each blending mode you select will give you a instant result that you can decide if you like or dislike.
The way the blending modes work is based on very complicated mathematical algorithyms too boring to even think about. So boring, in fact, that even the highest level Photoshop users use them with the 'trial and error' method in mind.
What's my point? Play with them a LOT. You'll start to get used to how each one effects an image, and the trial and error process will be shorter and shorter each time.
Keep in mind that each Layer has its own Blending Mode.
To give you a quick idea, do the following:
Open an image in Photoshop.
Duplicate that image by typing Ctrl+J.
Now, with the new layer active, click on the bleding mode drop down list, and choose Overlay.

That should have brightened the brights, and darkened the darks.
Now choose other Blending modes to see what they do.
If you only want part of that image to have the effect, just use the eraser tool to get rid of the parts you don't want on that layer.

Now I can't stop typing.

MUDDiE MURDA thnkz so much for ur movie maker tutorial!

HELLO EVERYONE i HAVE A QUESTiON!

this is for the MOViE MAKiNG THiNG or GiF CLiPS all the stuff i dl is all in avi formats and are hq! whenever i import the videos this always comes up

"The file C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Videos\The.Imperial.Household.E14.KOR.HDTV.XViD-HODOLi.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again."

then i thought i needed a codec bcuz the player i use u dont need a codec! so i dled the divx codec and it still didnt work! so i tried to import another thing, but it worked! the file i imported was in avi format but i think it worked bcuz it was short! it was onlee 10mins long!

so i was wondering how do u import avi files that are like 1 hr long?
because i have been wanting to make a gif frm this movie, but i its in HQ and a avi format!
minwoo012
you probably just need another codec, i had to dl 3 codecs before i could properly view and hear my HQ .avi files =)
krazyxdreamer
^o yeah i knoe! i meant for WiNDOWS MEDiA MOViE MAKER! it wont allow me to import the avi files!

the player i use GOMi u dont need codecs to watch anything! but like how do i import the videos in WiNDOW MEDiA MOViE MAKER?

Since your file's AVi already, why dont you DL Virtualdub? It cuts movies too. biggrin.gif That way is easier for you because you won't have to import and convert whatever. Just cut, and open in Image ready. biggrin.gif

okay^^;; really simple!! if you don't get anything, feel free to ask =D

IPB Image
1) create a new layer
2) click and hold your fill bucket icon, until you see the list pop out
3) click the gradient fill option
4) click on the colored square, not the drop down arrow

IPB Image
5) see the little arrow pointing up? see the square in the middle? click on the square in the middle. You'll notice that near the bottom where it says color(step 6) that the color you just selected is now there
6) click the box beside color, and change the color to your liking =)
*if you want to add more colors, along the same path that the other arrows are, just click, and you'll see another arrow com up =)
*you can move the postion of the arrows by clicking and dragging

THIS IS PROBABLY really confusing, im confused! LOL so if you don't get something hmm... you could pm me, or maybe someone else will make a good tut =P

can anyone help me with making animated gif with photoshop cs2 and/or imageready. i'm a beginner so i don't even know which i should use to make animated gif.

Be specific: animated gif with different pics.

Show an example (or examples) of what you're referring to: like the one in my sig. i can do with or without the letters...just pics is fine.

State your level of experience with Photoshop: a beginner. i can't even get a two pics in one layer...not even sure if i said that right.

any help...please.

thank you.

How do you make the last slide go lighter like that....or like in the middle one...it goes a bit darker? Like...not the whole gif...just the picture. I'm pretty sure that kiki used to have a gif that freezed on the last slide and desaturated (very old though..hehe). I know it'll be easy to do it when working with just caps...but how do you do it by just trimming the clip out like in your tutorial? Sorry if I'm not clear....

And one more thing...hehe...

IPB Image

How do you do that white circle thing that opened up and closed in on Kim Tae Hee? Hehe...sorry if I don't make sense! BUT THANKS A MILLION IF YOU (OR ANYONE) CAN HELP!! biggrin.gif

Wahh I feel so bad. haha I was late for a bday so I rushed to make a graphic. (Rushed = 2 days) Hahaha (T_T) Then stuff happened. :\

I'll come up with something right quick and I hope you get it. Since you get the basic of animation right? sweatingbullets.gif

IPB Image IPB Image IPB Image
credit to starlette*

Ok this style. It's simple. biggrin.gif (I hope)

1) Make sure you're on the very last frame. When you click on your last frame, an eye should appear for that frame somewhere, MOST LIKELY the 2nd top layer, if you haven't moved anything around. Click that layer.

Now click "Duplicate current frame". The page fold looking thing under the frames.
And on your 2nd top layer, or the layer you clicked on, right click and duplicate.

IPB Image

2) Make sure the "copy" layer is selected. Go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation to change color of the image/frame.

IPB Image

3) After that, you might noticed your frames looking funky. Move that "copy" layer to the very bottom of all layers.

IPB Image

4) If other frames still look weird, click on those frames and then hide the "copy" layer (click the eye for it to disappear). Go through all your frames to make sure they look normal.

IPB Image

IPB Image

5) Click on the 2nd last frame right b4 the "colored" frame. TWEEN! Click that button that looks like 4 circles. A box will appear and chose how many frames you want inbetween the original and colors. I did mines around 6.

IPB Image

IPB Image

That should do it! Preview and if you like, save!

IPB Image

Tips: Timing!

Here is where you control how long you want ONE certain frame to freeze for a while. To change the timing of all of them, highlite all the frames and click on any one of the timing. The bigger the number, the longer it'd freeze to that frame. Screencaps below!!

IPB Image

IPB Image

-------------------------------------------

IPB Image
credit to kiki

Okay, now this one!!! Note...this is the way I would do it, if I was to make a GIF such as that. Maybe Kiki has a much more simple way? unsure.gif If this tutorial start to confuse some people, I'm going to take it down, better to be lost than confused with this one. happy.gif

1) Copy and paste the frame image you wanted to make fade circle-like, into photoshop. Using the circle marquee tool, make a circle where you'd like it to fade around.

IPB Image

2) Go to Select > Feather > Enter 5, or your liking.

IPB Image

Then go to Select > Inverse. Now, using a brush and color of your choice, color all over your image. Don't worry, it won't touch the inside of the circle.

IPB Image

3) Go to File > Edit in Image Ready. Click on the marquee tool, and go to Select > All (not "All Layers") then go to Edit > Copy. Minimize this.

4) Now click on your GIF project. This get more complicated a tad bit. Make sure you are on frame 1 and on the very top layer (as shown below). Paste in your image you just copied. If it looks messed up (not in right position, all wrong, blah blah) DON'T TOUCH! Look below. I hope that can help.

IPB Image

5) Omg, I hope you made it here. =\ *cough* Now you repeat steps 1-4, about 2 more times. hahaha (yes, I'm serious). But this time, you'd be doing smaller circles. Like the ones below. Place them from big to small.

IPB Image

6) All you have now, is tweening, as shown below! After that, just optimize it like I showed you in the GIF tutorial a few pages back and save!

IPB Image

------

omg, that's the worst and most confusing tutorial ever. Dood, I don't think I'd be answer anyone's question concerning this tutorial. Like I said, imageready ticks me off. biggrin.gif

So sorry these were such bad tutorials. Honestly, I feel so ashame to even post them up. hahahaha -sigh-

Hi, evreyone. I'm new at PS and this thread is awesome with all the tutorials. It helps me a lot so far. There is sth I wanna ask.
Can u guys teach me how to make that border? the one that borders the actor and actress in the banner below?
Is it some kind of brush? If so, where can I get it?
Thanks so much

http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/8383/goong7uf1lo.jpg
credits: chaoticrose

Hmmm...It's a brush, but it's more simple and yet time consuming. biggrin.gif
You actually take a dot brush, one of photoshop's default brush, a small one, and just dot around the people. Yes ma'am, that's it. You can basically do this w/ any shape brush of your choice (square, line, another shape, etc)

--------------------------

I was going to do 2-3 more tutorials, but I've all of a sudden got really busy. :\ Got me a job. But spring break is next week. happy.gif I wanted to do that one with what innocentlove wanted because that's very similiar to the one up there...except I will be using paintshop/animationshop. Eff image ready.

biggrin.gif

Sorry guys. I feel really bad for not being able to complete some stuff. sad.gif

I hope those two KINDA give you the idea of how animation/imageready/frames works.

alicee
^ Over the picture, use a brush (or blend in a picture) of stars and erase over his face. Make sure the brush is white/the stars in the picture are bright. You can use an outer glow on it if you want (Layer>>Layer Style>>Outer Glow).

Then you make a new layer and put a blue (or whatever color) to white gradient over it. Set it on softlight (or screen) and change the opacity around to whatever suits you.

Hope that helped >o< I suck at explaining when I don't actually do the process x.x

I'm not sure what he/she did there so I'm just guessing here.

That graphic looks very clean and simple. I guess blend and then use textures/gradient overlay? Maybe he/she duplicated his pics and then set it to softlight. It's kinda dreamy somehow too...maybe dupliacte the whole graphic- blur-gaussian blur - softlight.

__________________________________________

I think almost everyone works on the colors when they are about to finish the graphic, Colorbalance thingy and contrast/brightness.

You can do many things to get a soft touch. and the blue-exlusion thingy is to get the dreamy colors (it depends on how you do it too..not just for dreamy colors.)

Here is some example on the soft touch thingy: First one is the original - Motion blur - Gaussian blur

I also did the blue-exlusion thing. You can sharpen it too...just a little bit..and the result would look nice.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to make this effect? I was hoping to use it for a little letterhead thing in which it goes from a solidly filled rectangle that breaks off with this kind of like pixelated trail

Edit: Figured it out.

I'm not sure what he/she did there so I'm just guessing here.

That graphic looks very clean and simple. I guess blend and then use textures/gradient overlay? Maybe he/she duplicated his pics and then set it to softlight. It's kinda dreamy somehow too...maybe dupliacte the whole graphic- blur-gaussian blur - softlight.

thanks for the advice. can i ask one more thing though? for the colors...see how it almost looks desaturated and almost has none of its original color? but it still has some a little? how do you get that effect? because whenever i try the blue exclusion layer, it just leaves me with a sorta yellowish color...and i still have a lot of color left. is there a certain way to do this? because ive seen this in a lot of graphics.

^^ yup. If you want the kinda desturated colors - new layer - fill with black - set blending option to color - lower the opacity (maybe 25 % or something)

I do with almost with all of my graphics...so it looks nicer and easier to get the colors you want...(color balance)

Ctrl+U (Windows) or Cmd+U (Mac) to bring up the Hue/Saturation options.
Use the Saturation slider to partially desaturate the layer.

i have question about how you guys come out with the right color for your graphics. i have a hard time making the colors come out right. i use gradients and textures and i mess around with the filters but it never comes out right. so i was wondering how do you guys make your graphics come out with the right color?
