Hey all,

I've recently started using DirectVobSub Filters to customize my subtitles (cause the usual .srt files generate a boring Arial font - and I like to sit far away on my bed too).

Anyways, even though it look really pretty and is a big help - I can't get this one thing working. I see TWO subtitles instead of one. arrrgh! Let me show you what I mean:

How annoying is that? arrrgh! No matter what I can't get rid of the small-subtitles (those are the default ones). I can turn off the BIG subtitles generated by DirectVobSub-Filter, but not the small ones. And no, the subtitles are not embedded into the AVI file. They are in an external SRT file.

I use Media Player Classic 6.4.9.0 , with Directshow outputting through VMR9 (Renderless) mode. Hope that helps.

The problem is that no matter what - those small subtitles stay exactly at that position and don't even change in size (no matter how much I play around with my options). BUT, they do change in shadow-depth and outline-width and font-type. blink.gif Help?!

P.S. > Those small subtitles are the built-in support for subtitles that come with Media Player Classic.

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. Why do I spend 2 hours trying to fix the problem, search the net... and finally decide to post this question, and then 10 minutes later I fix it? Life is strange like that.

Okay - the problem is... DO NOT give your SRT files the same filename as your AVI. If you do this, then DirectVobSub(auto-loading version) kicks in, and so does MPC's built-in subtitle support. And it's a mess that can't seem to be cleared up.

Solution: Name your subtitle file differently, then open the AVI file in MPC. Then you click on File => Load Subtitle.... and you choose the subtitle. Make sure that before you do this you have VMR7(Renderless) or VMR9(Renderless) output selected in your Options. That's all! biggrin.gif If you load the subtitle manually you won't get this problem. Weird bug.

Maybe WMP is playing the subs. Trying turing the subtitles off using Windows Media Player INSTEAD of VobSub.
