well it's kinda mean but when i see someone with lower stats than me and less things I kinda feel angry because I worked so hard you know
haha I'm so whiny but I've wanted to go to Stanford since like...forever
and some chick from my school got in because her mom is on the admissions board...
yea that pisses me off a lot too. 2 girls (out of 5) [*i got to a private school so there about 86 in my graduating class] got into stanford but both those girls have double legacy -- 1 girl is like ...a quarter black. A QUARTER. but i guess it still helps. and her grades are ok but all she does significantly other than that is school drama productions. the other girl is NOT qualified watsoever, she does plays @ school too...but i'm really bitter about her acceptance lol. even though i'm obviously not going to be a b!!!!!tch and not congratulate her lol. ugh. still super bitter & resentful. can't write anymore about this (T()@#*G(WT (W$*Y T()W$. two other girls got rejected. one got deferred (1 legacy).

lol. don't worry. she'll get it someday. if it's not in college, she'll get screwed in life. i live peacefully knowing that ppl who cut corners and cheat now are actually doing a disservice to themselves.
ps. ok this is a complete non-sequitor but haha i'm really enjoying your myspace mp3 player cuz i love trance too!!! haha

where'd you apply to?
i know that she's going to get screwed over if she goes to caltech because she will totally fail out
and it's totally fishy because she said JHU didnt give her enough financial aid so they "released" her from their binding agreement...and it's like, it's binding, period. they wouldn't do that.
oh did i mention she offered $400 to several people to tell her the final answers for chem in 10th grade? yeah.
haha im just bitter
pm me if you want some song suggestions ;D
gl to everyone on regular!!! crossing my fingers for stanford, although its like...

mmmmmmm i think its everywhere you are minus northwestern (had NO idea why i wanted to apply there @ first so i took it off) & cornell (sheeeiiit...i visited via 5 hr bus ride from NYC & my @ss was basically flat by the end of the trip so no. haha i value my booty too much for that...and it's like in the freaking middle of nowhere lol. seriously. if i get goosebumps in socal's mild 60 weather. i think i might as well just jump off the suicide bridge @ cornell if i went there lol.) & i only applied to 3 UCs.
$400!!!!!!!!!! JEEZ. as IF she needs any flipping financial aid...pfsh ew.
haha i'll just sample your myspace playlist for like the next 238509 hrs lol.
don't worry! @ least you weren't flat out rejected. you've still got HOPE!

naww. i had too much going on 1st quarter so i didnt early anywhere. it was either stanford or yale but that's cuz it wasn't binding lol. which is not the best reason to early anyway lol. i'm kinda glad i didn't though b/c i look back on my first few apps and the essays and etc. vs. what my most recent app (stanford) looks like which i just sent in... yesterday! lol (oh gee how typical of me to procrastinate). but yea, since you want to stay in cali it def makes sense for you to go for stanford. lol i really wanted to apply to an extra UC (i think i was going to but UCI) just in case cuz i'm so fllliiiping scared but my mom was like...uhhh screw that you wouldnt go there even if you got in anyway SLASH its $60 extra so NO. lol
don't stress too much about stanford. you've got your other schools. are you done w/ all your apps? b/c if you're not, don't fall into the rut of "awww i'm so depressed i didnt get in now i don't have anymore motivation to go on and make kickass other apps....apwohga2ahhg" <<<< DON'T fall into the hole. all the places you're applying to are really great! so keep fighting! lol are you applying to any liberal art colleges?

haha no worries. i got 5 mas coming my way. but i have a craaaapload of hmwk to do this weekend b/c each of my teachers believes that his/her class is the sole reaon of my existence and are cramming tests and assignments left and right before our break starts wednesday. then the maraton really begins. 11 days. ~7 essays. CAN I DO IT. lol. and you dont do your common app simultaneously with your supplement? i thought you had to send both in at the same time. hmm

o_o, well, i dont want to assume anything about any individuals (congrats by the way), iono your stats or situation, so i can't really say.......... but i do believe that it is true that some people get advantages while other people get jipped
It's just disappointing that some people work extremely hard only to lose out because of factors concerning this

I've recently written an article on this very issue--and after lots of research and interviewing and polling, I've come to the *personal* conclusion that students who overcome adversity, discrimination, economic disadvantages, excess responsibilites, or unsafe home/work/school environments have to come up with a bit more internal motivation to succeed (especially if their culture doesn't expect them to do so), than someone without all of those things to deal with.
The playing field is not level, and I think that if you're looking to blame something for Asians getting rejected from top schools (which I assume is the problem here), blame the tendency of said schools to compare Asian applicants with one another, choosing those that rank with the top in the nation, and leaving those that can only rank with the top of their school. This is discrimination in its purest form, because they are seeing Asians as a homogenous pool from which to pick the "extraordinary" and leave the "great" instead of reviewing each applicant individually.

WOOHOO. 4/4 colleges I've applied to have accepted me. LOL!
QUESTION: Are Asians considered as minorities? My economics teacher says that Asians aren't considered as minorities because Asians initially get higher test scores than Caucasians. Hrm...
Ehr, I'd probably be one of those kids that shouldn't have been accepted to UW-Madison. Everyone at my school wants to go to Madison. I got accepted even though I'm not that physically or intellectually great. AHHH...

I live in IL so I'm applying to madison as well, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't quite help you to be Asian. A lot of people apply from my schools and most all of them get in not really dependent on ethnicity? =] But either way CONGRATS! =]

And there isn't any reason to give Asians special consideration unless they have individually disadvantaged circumstances and are still qualified. They are actually better off financially and better educated on average than the white majority in this country.
