just had a few questions for you out of state college students.

1. how far do you live from your home?
2. how are you managing to pay for the expensive out of state tuition? (scholarships? parents? yourself?)
3. do you regret going to college out of state?

thanks a bunch for your time biggrin.gif

1. I live 6 hours by car away from home.
2. My parents were kind enough to pay my entire tuition, on the promise that I repay them when I can (they are pretty well off, so I'm assured, barring complete meltdown, that I'm in no hurry to repay my parents).
3. Nope. It is the best decision I've made in my life. Well, that, and switching my insurance to Geico (sorry, I just HAD to insert a lame joke in this post).

Not yet but I probably will be going Out of State.... a few thousand miles away from home. It's odd because it seems like my parents aren't having a hard time at all letting me go.

1. cross country. (LA to Boston)
2. Loans & Parents
3. I never thought I would, but yea. I regret it a lot. If I had just gone to a UC I would have saved over 30,000, and my mom wouldn't be alone right now.

1. I'm on the other side of the country now. CA -> NY
2. Mostly government financial aid, some loans.
3. I only regret being in a place that's a bit lacking in anything Asian.

1. Other side of the country (from C.A. to Boston)

2. Mostly Financial Aid

3. Nope. LOVE IT! For me too... mom is alone at home and there isnt much asian things, but I still love it. Asians make up 5% of the school population. Changed from friends with almost all Asians to friends with No Asians but I love the experience. Probably best decision I made.

4.) nah it's great. there's lots to see, learn, experience. I think I made the right decision. the only disadvantage is the cost sad.gif

1. 2 hour plane flight. i attend college in socal but live in WA.
2. USC is a private institute, so its the same price as if i were in-state. 47k is a steep price to pay... but luckily they are very generous with their finaid.
3. no, i don't regret it at all. i only applied to one innstate school as a sr in high school, and applied to 6 out of states. LA weather agrees with me smile.gif

1. how far do you live from your home? 1900 miles
2. how are you managing to pay for the expensive out of state tuition? Student Loan
3. do you regret going to college out of state? Yes, even though I don't really know my parents all that well, I miss getting the chance to know them better since they decided to be home more for me.

1. New York -> LA (5.5 hour plane ride)
2. Mostly parents and some scholarship. Besides, my school is a private university so your state of residence doesn't affect the cost.
3. No, I love it!

1. five and half hour flight from NY to LA
2. parents/loan/some finaid
3. although i'm paying OOS for a state school (ucla) i think it's well worth the money. i've changed a lot since when i first came here over two and half years ago, something i would've never been able to do if i surrounded myself with the same type of people and family. it's a great experience to move away from home and immerse yourself into a whole new world. that and i got rejected to all the schools i wanted to go in ny HAHA.

1. Five Hour Flight across the Pacific Ocean (HI -> LA)
2. ROTC Scholarship...well technically it's a loan with no interest if i decide not to serve the military - but then again, private universities don't care where you live because they still have the same expensive price haha
3. im loving it...but there are instances where id rather be at home. thats all a part of growing up smile.gif
