I'm slightly confused about the terminology used to refer to dormitories. What is the difference between a Suite and a Corridor style dorm? Is it just layout?
And to those of you already in college and living in a dorm, which do you live in, or prefer?

each school may have different terms regarding the different types, but they should all however have pictures/brochures of some sort which, i'm sure, you can check out.
but in general, a suite, i believe, is an apartment-like layout with 3 or 4 rooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, whereas a corridor, i would think, is the motel/hotel kind of layout with long halls of rooms, with common bathrooms, common showers, common lounge, common kitchen, at the end/middle/side of the hall, typically shared by all the people on that floor.
suite with friends/good people = best in my opinion

Thanks. I thought that was the main difference, but do you know if the bedrooms in a suite are singles? Or does that vary by school?

suites usually are NOT singles... you have a roomate... so in a suite, you would have 2-3 rooms in sharing one bathroom and kitchen.
so in total it would be 4-6 people
unless you're an RA, then u may get a room by yourself but it all depends on school

it depends on how your school names the dorms. i'd suggest you take a school tour to get the real picture...if you can't take a tour, at least look at the floorplan and the map of the dorms in relation to the rest of the campus.
