Also how are the video functions? It doesn't have to be perfect, but again, I want something that records video well with decent sound.
And the battery power? It has to last as least 2-3 hours of snapping pictures/videos. An extra battery won't be a problem to get but i don't want the camera constantly dying on me, ya know?
By the way, I asked for the Sony Cybershot W50 or W70. Another question on that- does megapixel count really make a difference? I hear the camera functions are pretty much identical, and that it's just the megapixels that separate them. 6mp vs. 7.2mp.....which should I get?

I asked my dad for this camera for xmas and I just want to make sure it's the right cam for me. I want something that takes great quality pictures but doesn't have to be super super great. I'm more of a snapshot kinda person but I would also like the quality to come with it.

between 4~7 megapixels should be more than enough. if you're going to just use it for posting on the internet, 5MP and under is PLENTY.
sony takes great video shots, and battery life is very good. you can take MUCH MORE more shots with the w50 per battery charge than a canon sd or nikon coolpix model.
canon will beat out the sony in terms of picture quality, but if you take most of your shots in daylight(or good lightning), it shouldnt matter too much. it's a decent camera.

I just bought my girlfriend a DSC-T10, and the pictures came out blurry on some of them. I'm exchanging it for another one, but just be aware!
it really depends on the settings, where you take the picture and the photographer.

Awesome! Yeah I loveee Tempo. A bit off topic there but damn that man is one fine piece of....well you get it.
And awdark thanks for the pictures as well. Did you mean you had the W100? It just said W1...
Anyway, i took a peak at my xmas present (I know, I'm so bad but I couldn't help it) and he actually got me the W100! I was expecting the 50, maybe even 70, but jeez an 8 megapixel camera? I guess....I just hope it's not really thick...because I would assume it would be a bit bigger right?

=) I'm pretty happy with mine loll
Sometimes the pictures come out blurry, but its usually because of the setting, or if my hand is shaking a lot
usually it gives pretty good pictures =)
