Who's in it? Ray Winstone , Anthony Hopkins , John Malkovich , Angelina Jolie , Robin Wright Penn

What's it about? The Scandinavian warrior Beowulf must fight and defeat the monster Grendel who is terrorizing towns, and later, Grendel's mother, who begins killing out of revenge

Oh that is interesting. I am not a fan of fantasy but I have read this book in high school so I will look forward to it.

oh man, i could never enjoy this book, much less the movie. college literature KILLED it for me. a thirty page analysis on beowulf. still, hopes the movie does the book justice. ROCK ON!

so... angelina is grendel's momma???

i liked this story in high school. it was really good.

but i think that grendel was hated by the villagers....
and... his momma only wanted his hand back.
that beowolf didnt have to take it.

right? is that how the story goes?

my friend's are reading beowulf in their lit class.
i never knew it was going to be a movie.
this looks goodd.. but i heard it s a bit gory :x

I recently finished reading Beowulf AND Grendel (John Gardner) in my brit lit class, and as much as I enjoyed the books, I would never think it'd become a movie...

Also, by looking at the pics, some things bother me:

1) Angelina Jolie as Grendel's mother..? WHAT?!?! o_O Isn't she supposed to be butt-ugly/gross?? and she only speaks TWO things as I recall from the novel Grendel, which is something like "Dool-Dool" and "Warovich" or something. (Basically gibberish).

2) There aren't any woman characters other than Wealtheow.. so where did all the others come from?

3) Is the dragon above Grendel or the dragon that Grendel encounters? B/c if it is Grendel.. then that's weird too b/c Grendel's also supposed to be butt-ugly yet the dragon looks kinda cool..
