How Much Does A B In A Class Affect Your Chances Of Getting Into A Top-notch College?

I heard it's an insanely difficult school to get into.
I've been miserable, though, because my SAT scores won't be that good anyway. I'll probably get in the 1900's range at the most. And now I'm getting a B in a tough chemistry class. Throughout all of highschool, I've been getting A's. The teacher grades very hard. The B might even through off my entire GPA so that I may be ranked 2nd in class instead of 1st. =/ It's insanely stressful.
And what's even worse is that our school posts up "who made all A's honor roll" after every quarter. People expect my name to be on that list, but when they find that it isn't, it's just going to be awkward. I dread going to school and having people ask me "Oh my gosh, Emily.... you didn't make the all A's honor roll?" Believe me, they'll ask me that.
I know I sound like a loser, obsessing about something like this. But Tufts is kind of my dream school at the moment. I also hate these expectations that people set up for me.

look, one B wont kill you
one B wont even dent your GPA that much in the long run
even if you do rake up quite a few Bs and maybe even a C, you just have to remember its not all about the numbers
dont become depressed because of one B, thats not worth it

sorry
but either way... numbers are not everything
perfects scores have led to deferrals and a B average has led to top-notch schools before

a b can look really bad, especially among a sea of a's... just loox like u slacked off.
thats why my friend didnt make it into harvard, she said

I hereby declare.... I am part of the solution. As long as I wear this ribbon in my signature, I will care for the environment. Together, we can fight global warming.

i disagree
for one thing, if you dont get into a college they dont tell you WHY you got rejected, so you can't just say i didnt get in because of one B.
i highly doubt one B looks like you slacked off... maybe if it was a bunch of classes for a whole semester it looks like you slacked off...
i mean if you want to get into a top notch college you're going to be taking difficult classes
getting a B in Calc BC or something then getting As in AP Econ, AP Lit and watever else doesnt look like slacking off...

But keep in mind that you'll get a chance to clarify on grade drops if they were caused by personal incidents like a death in the family. Good luck

if you don't want to do that, however, you can always explain in the 'additional information' section
