The Gym

I've been trying to lose a couple of lbs but I don't see a difference at all.
This is the cardio i usually do:
30-40 minutes of the bicycle.
30 minutes of the elliptical.
and then lifting some weights.
When i go to the gym i dont know exactly what i should do.
I want to tone up. turn most of my fat into muscles.
The biggest goal is my stomach, legs, and arms.
But basically lose weight all over
So could you tell me the routine i should do when i go to the gym?
Like what machine, how long, and the order of the machines.
Should i eat how i usually eat or change my diet?

I would swim but it makes my shoulders bulky and it's too manly for me. Especially since i've already got broad shoulders.

honestly i think running is the fastest/best way to lose weight...
i used to swim a lot when i was younger...and i have somewhat big shoulders too~
i'm the same height as you~! but i'm 97 right now ><; i do sit ups..that keeps my weight down
and i recently joined a breakdancing club and it's good exercise O_o
well, i would suggest running, and the bike thing..i did that before when i went to the gym ^^
it'll take a little while before seeing results..but if you REALLY want to lose weight..you could try ...'the master cleanser'
it's pretty hard to do though..but..Oo it's not like a starving diet or anything
it cleans out all the toxins in your system and you lose weight REALLY FAST.
you havent seen ANY result whatsoever? did you change your diet at all? like eat more?

Oh yea. You say u want to lose weight but gain muscles. You know muscles weight more than fat right? Whydont u instead shoot for a dress size. Instead of looking at your weight, aim towards fitting into that one dress you have but couldnt get into

all that stuff doesnt matter if you cant get yor heart rate up. Sometimes they say power walking is better than running. You need to monitor your heart rate and get it up to....i forgot but u can google it. Once u get it to that rate, thats when u start burning it off

^ she's right...shoot for a dress size, or pant size..not weight..muscle weighs more ^^; so even if you do tone your body you might think it's not helping at all when it really is~

secondly, you cannot technically turn fat into muscles, it just not possible as fat and muscles are two very different things.
thirdly, in order to lose weight, you must eat. yes, i said eat. if you're wondering why you should eat especially since you're trying to lose weight, well its because when you eat, you increase your metabolism and you actually burn more calories. during this stage, i would recommend eating 4 smaller meals per day. Eat every 2-2.5 hours. make sure you're distributing your proteins and carbs correctly. if you have any specific questions about diet in particular, PM me. i can give you suggestions and advice on dieting and fitness.
fourthly, i would recommend adding some type of aerobic excercises and swimming! Swimming can actually help alot but if you don't have time, its okay. there are other ways to lose weight. rather than just lose weight, you should aim to be more in shape since there is no such thing as "tone". but i know what you mean. As far as excercises goes, freeweights are the best since they are stabilizer movements. dont rely so much on machines, there are better and efficient ways than using machines like everyone does. again, PM for more detail if you really want to know.

Also, I should warn you, daily medium to high impact exercise makes it hard for you to gain muscle. No muscle gain = no tone.

Like most people learn, to gain muscle you need to overwork it, essentially making "tears" so that it will heal back stronger. Cardio doesn't do that.
... I don't recall why it makes it hard for muscle growth though.

For arms, you can do 3x12x 5-10lb bicep curls, or whatever weight you're comfortable with. You can also do skull crushers, with probably a 10-12lb dumbbell(3-4 sets, 15-20 reps? I dunno, just experiment). For abs, do crunches, with PROPER FORM, SO, you shouldn't be able to do 30+, try 10-15 crunches, 4 sets, 4-6 seconds each rep.
Seriously though, this isn't the place to ask. You're better off at bodybuilding.com forums, I think they have a female section.

you gaining muscle weight
and burning off the fat
