Ive been going to the gym for about three weeks
I've been trying to lose a couple of lbs but I don't see a difference at all.
This is the cardio i usually do:
30-40 minutes of the bicycle.
30 minutes of the elliptical.
and then lifting some weights.

When i go to the gym i dont know exactly what i should do.
I want to tone up. turn most of my fat into muscles.
The biggest goal is my stomach, legs, and arms.
But basically lose weight all over

So could you tell me the routine i should do when i go to the gym?
Like what machine, how long, and the order of the machines.

Should i eat how i usually eat or change my diet?

You should lift weights first, then do cardio. If you want to tone, just lift light weights, with a lot of reps. Just try to find a machine, or exercise that you have good form with. You should definitely adjust your diet. Stop eating white rice for starters.

But i wanted to know specifically.
What kind of weights. how many reps. etc. etc.

pull ups for arms, you should do swimming, that's the best way to tone your entire body~sit ups, help tone the stomach, as for legs, running, treadmill.

how much weight are you wanting to lose?
//how much do you weigh and how tall are you exactly? Oo

you dont need to answer that if you dont feel like it ^

but, try swimming...it'll help a lot ^^
i do 50 sit ups every night ^^ and i always stretch whenever i watch tv Oo i dont know why

I would swim but it makes my shoulders bulky and it's too manly for me. Especially since i've already got broad shoulders.

I'm 5'2 and the last time i checked which was like six months ago i weight I'm guessing about 110-115
I want to be about 105.

honestly i think running is the fastest/best way to lose weight...
i used to swim a lot when i was younger...and i have somewhat big shoulders too~
i'm the same height as you~! but i'm 97 right now ><; i do sit ups..that keeps my weight down
and i recently joined a breakdancing club and it's good exercise O_o

well, i would suggest running, and the bike thing..i did that before when i went to the gym ^^
it'll take a little while before seeing results..but if you REALLY want to lose weight..you could try ...'the master cleanser'

it's pretty hard to do though..but..Oo it's not like a starving diet or anything
it cleans out all the toxins in your system and you lose weight REALLY FAST.

you havent seen ANY result whatsoever? did you change your diet at all? like eat more?

all that stuff doesnt matter if you cant get yor heart rate up. Sometimes they say power walking is better than running. You need to monitor your heart rate and get it up to....i forgot but u can google it. Once u get it to that rate, thats when u start burning it off

Oh yea. You say u want to lose weight but gain muscles. You know muscles weight more than fat right? Whydont u instead shoot for a dress size. Instead of looking at your weight, aim towards fitting into that one dress you have but couldnt get into

^ she's right...shoot for a dress size, or pant size..not weight..muscle weighs more ^^; so even if you do tone your body you might think it's not helping at all when it really is~

Diet is about 75% and exercise is about 25% when it comes to weight loss , so I would suggest change your food intake. As for exercise, just do the routines you're comfortable with. Personally, I only go on the treadmill and elliptical when I go to the gym

first things first. always do weightlifting first then cardio. you can do like a 5 minute cardio for warm up but weightlifting should be priority whether you want to be lean or not.

secondly, you cannot technically turn fat into muscles, it just not possible as fat and muscles are two very different things.

thirdly, in order to lose weight, you must eat. yes, i said eat. if you're wondering why you should eat especially since you're trying to lose weight, well its because when you eat, you increase your metabolism and you actually burn more calories. during this stage, i would recommend eating 4 smaller meals per day. Eat every 2-2.5 hours. make sure you're distributing your proteins and carbs correctly. if you have any specific questions about diet in particular, PM me. i can give you suggestions and advice on dieting and fitness.

fourthly, i would recommend adding some type of aerobic excercises and swimming! Swimming can actually help alot but if you don't have time, its okay. there are other ways to lose weight. rather than just lose weight, you should aim to be more in shape since there is no such thing as "tone". but i know what you mean. As far as excercises goes, freeweights are the best since they are stabilizer movements. dont rely so much on machines, there are better and efficient ways than using machines like everyone does. again, PM for more detail if you really want to know.

The caridos that you are doing are low impact exercises. Try jogging since it's a medium impact. You might also be gaining muscles, but that seems unlikely. Tell us your weight training regimen.

Also, I should warn you, daily medium to high impact exercise makes it hard for you to gain muscle. No muscle gain = no tone.

Damn, I can't find the book that I read it off of, but like riceball said, "tone" is not what most people think it is. You achieve tone (or a better word: definition) by building muscle while losing weight.

Like most people learn, to gain muscle you need to overwork it, essentially making "tears" so that it will heal back stronger. Cardio doesn't do that.

... I don't recall why it makes it hard for muscle growth though.

Cardio should be an hour max, at your own pace. That's after lifting.

For arms, you can do 3x12x 5-10lb bicep curls, or whatever weight you're comfortable with. You can also do skull crushers, with probably a 10-12lb dumbbell(3-4 sets, 15-20 reps? I dunno, just experiment). For abs, do crunches, with PROPER FORM, SO, you shouldn't be able to do 30+, try 10-15 crunches, 4 sets, 4-6 seconds each rep.

Seriously though, this isn't the place to ask. You're better off at bodybuilding.com forums, I think they have a female section.

muscle weighs more than fat
so the non change in your weight is probably
you gaining muscle weight
and burning off the fat

hmmm ive been making great progress on the elliptical for 40min/day. everyone noticed my weight loss and its only been 2wks. it really matters how fast you go on it. i do around 8000+ strides in those 40 min and it really works up a sweat for me.

and didnt even diet for that weight loss. just 40min/day. 5days/week sometimes even less tho.

If you want to get rid of fat then it has been shown that CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) and the fruit called Guarana (they stick it in the energy drinks now) reduces both the size and number of fat cells by 50%.
blah blah blah I love my N95 8GB

You should start off with weights that are comfortable, then gradually move higher when you're ready. It's common sense not to use heavier weights than you can lift.
