i like the plot... sounds really interesting..
and the would-be creatures were created very graphic but awesome.

and i like the idea that the director risk much about having this indepedent film...
Mr. Del Torro is so dedicated. i love his movies.

I'm looking forward to this as much or more than I'm looking forward to Children of Men! I love, love Guillermo del Toro. He's mostly known in American for his action films Blade II and Hellboy, but before then, he was doing smaller films in Mexico (Cronos and The Devil's Backbone) that are just outstanding. I'm glad he's made another.

Pan's Labyrinth is almost guaranteed to get nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars. X) Early reviews have been in for a while now and apparently this film is del Toro's masterpiece.

I can't wait to see it. ><

AAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I've been looking forward to this for MONTHS and MONTHS. I'm a HUGE Guillermo fan. I love his spanish films so much. The Devil's Backbone made me love his work, then I saw Cronos. <3

I'm getting the soundtrack for Christmas, cause it's damn good.

American Pan's Labyrinth site
UK site
French site
Official Myspace page
Guillermo Del Toro's website

I forgot what the Spanish Pan's website is. Oh well.

Right now it's at 97% on rottentomatoes.com with 34 reviews. 33 are postive and only 1 is negative, but that was by some dumb blogger.

WOOHOO!

Oh, I haven't heard of this before but now I'm like super excited for it! Hah hah. The trailer was awesome, and the creatures in it look so COOL. Finally a fantasy/fairy tale type thing that's original. biggrin.gif

I wonder, will this be in all theatres? I really wanna go see this during my winter break. ^^;

^It opens limited next Friday, and it will expand to more theaters in January. How many theaters is something that has most of us wondering though. I guess it depends on where you live.

And for the record, I thought I'd forewarn if there's anyone seeing this cause it looks like a cute fantasy film/fairy tale. It IS both, but it's an adult fairytale. From what I hear the violence in it is rather graphic and it's not something to "take the kids to".

This looks kinda like a scary movie... so I gotta ask is it disturbing in the sense of nightmare-ish scary? I can't bring myself to watch the trailer for the fear of freaking myself out.. sleep.gif;;

I saw this already with Spanish subtitled in english. Totally not a kids under the age of 12 movie. There's a mix of fantasy and reality like a weird collision of Alice in Wonderland and Come and See, one of the most brutally realistic war films ever made. There's also something of the hallucinatory violence of Grimms Brothers fairytales.
It's very thought-provoking and amazing. The story does have some minor plotholes. but the special effects make up for it. .

NOW THIS!! is the type of film I've always wanted to see.

A sort of F'ed up Brothers Grimm tale that's also beautiful. I hear this is the single best film of its genre.

I'm a fan of Del Toro's work and I cannot wait to see this SUBBED!

Okay, thanks!
And I figured about the darkness of it... Just from reviews that is.

I live in the Chicago area so I'm sure I could find a theatre playing it, or I can just wait. I wanna see this so badly the more I read about you guys seeing it. ^^;;

I saw this movie already. It's really good and I really liked it. There is a reason it is rated-R though. I think the trailer is also a little misleading... It takes place in 1944 Spain which was fascist. The girl's stepdad is... not a nice guy. I would highly recommend it because it is a really great adult fairytale but it is not for kids, despite what the trailer makes it seem like.

If you can see it... Go!

Ahh, well if you live in/near Chicago, I'm sure you won't have a problem seeing it. Infact, you'll probably get to see it before I do. I live in a smaller city in central Virginia, but luckily we're pretty Indie/Artsy with our entertainment here, so I'll probably get to see it next month.

Until then, I probably shouldn't come back to this thread lol. I've been waiting to see this for MONTHS and have been avoiding spoilers while waiting. I don't want someone to forget a spoiler tag and ruin in for me. ;(

I recommend anyone who really wants to see this to watch The Devil's Backbone as well. It's also directed by Guillermo Del Toro, and it's not as fantasy-ish, but it's in the same vein as Pan's. A supernatural movie about children dealing with war/loss of innocence. I don't know how appealing that makes it sound, but it's why I became a big Guillermo fan.
