I call it Yum Cha and I live in Cali haha. I dunno. My family doesn't really call it Dim Sum. I'm not even sure what it means. Yum Cha literally translates to "Drink Tea".

Anyway we always order the same thing. I don't know what they're called in english nor chinese though. Like the small stuff with meat wrapped around the yellow thing. And the white stuff with bbq pork [cha sew] in soy sauce. The rice with the egg stuff in the middle. I don't like to eat chicken feet either but everyone else in my family does ha.

^ Dim Sum = 點心 = um, sort of like, "satisfied". T_T. 心 = body/heart...
Lol. I know what I'm talking about in my head...
Wikipedia says;
"... literally "touch the heart" but meaning "morsel/snack" "
._.

Fung zau (chicken feet), ha cao (prawn dumplings with that BEAUTIFUL white outside), dim sim/xiu mai, the Malaysian sponge cake (馬拉糕), the congee with the "100 year old egg", 蘿蔔糕 (turnip/radish cakes),...

I love it all <3

And FTR, I call it "yum cha" too XD
Are you going to yumcha on Gouger St., or in Chinatown? tongue.gif

I haven't had Dimsum in so long. But usually when we go, we would order:

-Squid Fried In Batter
-Prawn Dumplings
-Siu Mai
-Lai Wong Buns [Can't remember the english name, LOL]
-Spared Ribs
-Cha Siu/Prawn/Beef in White Paste [Cheung Fun]

I like that thing that looks like a flattened bird's nest. It's like shrimp paste coated with shredded taro pieces and then fried.

and is it just me or does dim sum taste extra good with Worstershire sauce? lol. I only go for dimsum like once a month or I'll get really sick of it.

i dont eat it much
but i eat whatever my parents or friends order
i like...
those shrimp dumplings (the white ones) aka "hagao"-canto or "xiajiao"-mandarin [pardon me, my pinyin sucks]
and the yellow-ish dumplings that have a bunch of stuff inside aka "sumai" or "saomai"
best
