I love covers! There's rarely been a cover I don't like, the standouts for me though are:
Glen Hansard's cover of Everytime (Britney)

i'm not really a fan of the original but i loved glen hansard's cover of everytime as well.

Some of the best covers I heard on youtube are from Boyce Avenue and Passion. Most especially passion. His voice is amazing. People! Try looking him up. You are gonna fall in love with him <3

When Fall Out Boy did a cover of Beat It, When I first heard it I was gobsmacked. I hated it but then I sorta liked it and now I don't like it again.

cat power does lots of covers but i have to say that i love her phil phillips' cover of sea of love

and we can't talk about covers if we don't talk about seu jorge! he covered david bowie's song for the soundtrack of the life aquatic with steve zissou... a must listen, it's addictive!

I personally think Boyce Avenue ruins the songs. It sounds like karaoke to me. Maybe it's just the overall crappy quality of their covers.

oh by the way, listen to 'time after time' by quietdrive. it's a rock version of cyndi lauper's song.

I accidentally stumbled upon the live version of this song which was AWFUL , at least the video version is a little better, but not by much (and the video had Arrested Development cameos-which was good but didn't help the music).

agreed tenfold. i saw the video especially for Buster from Arrested Development and Turk from Scrubs. at the time i had no idea what my ears were in for.

another cover i didn't like:
P-Cat Dolls (apparently the word p-ssy is not allowed? haha)- Feeling Good (originally by Nina Simone). When pop artists cover say, rock bands or jazz singers, they tend to overdo it. that's mostly because they don't understand the genre and tend to sing in a stereotypical way. many jazz songs are butchered because of this.

favourite covers:
Radiohead - Ceremony (originally by Joy Division/New Order)
Brand New - Oh Comely (~ Neutral Milk Hotel) he sings it with such raw emotion

Also, people have got to stop covering Love Will Tear Us Apart. I wonder if it could enter the Guinness Book of Records as the most covered song of all time.

Twist and Shout by the Beatles. Most people don't even know it was covered from Isley Brothers.
