For the females who go to all girl colleges, how is LIFE at the colleges?

and Why did you decide to go?

my best friend from high school went to Smith and she went because shes somewhat over weight and very shy so being in an all girl environment really made her more comfortable and confident. when she got there she did complain a LOT about drama between the girls. she also said she did miss guys and the simplicity you have with guy friends. theres also lots of lesbians

hm no... i went to a chatroom for simmons college (an all girl college) and i don't think there were any BI's. the girls were actually AFRAID of bi's or lesbians.

Yes there are all male colleges but VERYYY FEW!!! such as st. john's university in minnesota.

Smith is SUCH a good school!!!! it's like an ivy league but it's not.

barnard columbia would be your all girls ivy league. my other friend went there. i never talked to her after high school but i heard she got caught up in that new york atmosphere and started doing some hardcore drugs (heroine).

I'm currently attending an all girls private catholic college in Minnesota. I love it here! Honestly, I never considered
ever going to one before...but in the end I'm glad I made the decision to do so. I believe I can learn a lot more in an atmosphere
where there are no guys. I mean, guys usually are more of the class clowns. (Not all of them...of course!) Plus, I don't have to
worry about dressing my best. I am able to focus much better.
An all women's college or all men's college is not always right for anybody. It is really the criteria that suits you. ie: if you like more of a <urban area or rural area>
There are also many other factors that plays overall too. True, there are the cons too...such as I hardly ever see guys on campus. Sometimes it sucks b/c it'll be
nice to have guys around when there are dances or a ball. Anyways, I love the school that I go to. biggrin.gif I feel like it is the right fit for me. When I'm at school, I can just be me. I love
the campus here and everything. smile.gif yeap, I sound like a nerd already. sweatingbullets.gif

I don't personally go to an all-girls university but two of my close friends do, and both of them are planning on transferring to other schools next year... I don't think it's so much the lack of boys, but the competitive academic nature of many all-girls schools. (One goes to Bryn Mawr, and the other Wellesley.)

lol. i'm going to an all girl college here in the philippines. i guess it's kind of same as it is there in the states. oh well. it was actually my last resort but yes, im also glad i went here. XP haha. you're going to miss the guys, but like one said above, it'll somwhat make your confidence high. there's no insecurities. T-T; i adjusted really fast even though i cam from a co-ed high school.

and, gawd. there's lesbians... but i guess that's ok. XD unless you don't mess with them or sth..

sweatingbullets.gif ummmmm I attend simmons college and half or more are bi and lesbians....i attend simmons because the program i got into, but now im transferring next semester.....reason???? well, first im definite about another carreer, 2nd simmons is not my atmosphere, 3rd girls here are really immature.....i expected more maturity from girls, but its a lot worst, daddy's little princess and too tooo tooo gay proud ( i got bashed for being straight a couple of times in casual conversations by classmates and friends, but this might not happen at other all girls school). One positive thing about simmons is that the professors are awesome, but the girls here are soo rude and disrespectful to them... and NO Im not a homosexual hater, most of my friends from high school are gay, but they dont act the way these girls do....

you must have been in the wrong chatroom because simmons not having any lesbos is total bs. there will be plenty of lesbos at any all girls school. at my friend's school she feels so awkward because the girls she dorms with always talk about which girl they did it with the night before. and my other friend who has a sister that goes to simmons told her sister that she can hear the girls moaning with each other when they're doing it.

seriously i don't understand why any straight girl would want to go to an all girls school. you can get a good education at so many co-ed colleges. it's not like boys are constantly trying to have sex with you ust because you guys are in the same building. if you're a hot girl the other girls will constantly be checking you out and wanting to get with you since most girls schools aren't that big. my friend is always getting asked why she has a boyfriend. it's not normal to seclude yourself from the opposite sex.

^all-girl colleges aren't that bad. =_= they do have bad sides but it's not really that bad.

yes they do hav lesbos and bis but.. they won't really approach you or something out of the blue.. o_o; and yeah, its fun to be on a co-ed college/uni but i guess you can't blame any straight girl going to an all-girl college because of personal and family reasons. (like what happened to me. it was my last resort and my mom wanted me there.) and me secluding from boys isn't a problem to me. like i dont see guys since forever. i have guy friends and i catch up with them. my school has a co-ed unis beside and we see and meet guys from there. sleep.gif; it's the matter of how you get used to it. and it doesn't mean that if you are used to be away from boys socially, like in school it doesn't mean your a bi or a lesbo.

hmm...an all girl college seems very interesting. however it seem like it will be hard to get along with no diversity. i love a college with lots of diversity. just more comfortable

ummm... depends on the type of diversity... yes we have no guys but about 100 of the students are international from lots of different countries n we have a student population of about 700..so we are pretty diverse in that respect...

i went to an all girls college for some time, but i left because it was wayyy too...weird... the stereotype about lesbians is true. and girls who went there straight would start turning lesbian, too. i didn't want to become part of that culture, i didn't want to be the stereotypical girl who graduated from that college...so i went somewhere else which fit more into my idea of what i want to be.

I go to a women's college. It's really not as bad as everyone thinks it is. I was actually completely against them at first, but it was my last resort and the only school my parents would help me pay for. Since I've been here I really do like it. I mean, I love the fact that I can speak my mind in class/on campus and feel more confident as opposed to going to school full of men (my other choice for school had a 10:1 men to women ratio!). I love the idea of empowering women to do so much more. My school has other universities around it so we aren't missing out on too much when it comes to men. To each her own, you know? Some people love their experience and some people hate it. I guess you just have to see for yourself.
