Yep...after driving for almost 4 years, I finally got my first ticket.....on a FREEWAY - -;;;
To make it short, I was driving around 75 on a 65 freeway(FWY 101). happened around 6 in the morning, I was drive to SF from LA

I just have a couple of questions.

1) The police officer told me to go to the court on 1/29/2007 at 12pm
but that place is like 2hrs from where I live, so can I just go to my local court instead or I have to drive there?

2) How much usually is the ticket?

Thank you guys

u can send them a letter after u get ur notice to appear in court
it should give u the address to send in either ur ticket, or appeal

tickets can vary, mine cost about 140 ish for going 38 in a 25 (i dont want to explain but it was kind of stupid) and my friend just recently got one for over 200$ for 80 in a 65
so u can judge by that i guess

Damn I got hit with my first ticket after 6 years of driving...82 on 65 biggrin.gif haha my fault and didn't even try to contest it. I know when I'm at fault or not. But either way, I paid $240 including online traffic school for $20.

As for the location, I think you could ask to take online traffic school if you don't contest it since you live so far away. It all depends on the county... tongue.gif sorry

If its the first time, go to the court and fight it. Come up with a really good excuse and tell them why you were rushing etc. etc. Usually they let you pay a higher fine than the amount on the ticket, but it pays off because your insurance doesn't go up and no points are added to your license.

I just got a parking ticket in NYC. Costs $115! WTFFFF! Im fighting it!

Go in and say you have a clean driving record and they will throw out the case.
