So my state mandates ACT, so I'm going to have to take it. But I'm wondering if I should take the SAT as well. I heard from ppl that SAT is only if you are considering to go out of state(I'm in Illinois btw). But then again thats just heard from other ppl. So is that true? Should I take the SAT anyway for the heck of it? Cuz I'm thinking of just staying in Illinois, since im still unsure about going out of state. I also did some research online, and alot of schools take ACT too. But I'm not sure if SAT weighs more or something. So suggestions/comments? =D

you might do better on the SAT
i don't think one gets more preferential treatment than the other, but i could be wrong
take both just in case

I'm taking both just in case a school asks for one or the other. If you're that worried, just take both.
Better safe than sorry.

i took both, but according to my classmates i'm "crazy" (I live in MN and our counselor talks kids out of taking the SATs; yeah my school is stupid)
it pretty much depends on where you want to go.
i actually liked the SAT more than the ACT, but the SAT is super long.
i took both because it's just more chance to take the tests. (I don't think that makes sense).
it actually worked out in my favor (i took both 3 times). i was sick for both the last time, but my ACT scores went up in certain areas, the second time i was stressed by finals and an acl tear, the first time was just a trial for both.
but, basically, just take both, my two cents. you'll never know if you have the potential to do better on one than the other (who cares about PLAN tests and PSATs, i did better than both said i would and i did no preparation)
i also suggest you prepare, i could have done so much better if i would have.
