I just saw the trailer for this movie for the first time today and it doesn't look good at all. I have to agree with getxinfatuated in saying that it is very cliche and overdone.

lol Patrick Dempsey.

Looks just like Dangerous Minds, which is also a biopic. Hell, they might even be about the same thing.
There was nothing to fear,

AHHH.
I really want to see this movie.
Yeah, it's a bit cliche. I'm a sucker for 'inspirational'-type movies. :]

I remember reading that book. It was pretty good, but if Patrick Dempsey wasn't it in it, I probably wouldn't see it. tongue.gif

It's based on a real life experience. I don't think it's cliche at all. Try it out. I met Erin Gruwell, and it was a "changing" experience. Haha.

i agree with getxinfatuated.
i was like omg.. when i first saw the trailer
if they used another school, another city, i'd probably give it more respect
yah the film takes place during the time after the L.A riots (1992), but so what
they try to make it seem like the majority of people in Long Beach is made up of Blacks, Asians, and Hispanics.
But according to the lbc city demographics, in 1990 Blacks made up of only about 13%, Asians 12%, but yeah Hispanics 23%, which is fairly large; but compare all that to Whites, which is 49.5%. And in 2000, the demographics changed having Hispanics as the majority, with 35%, but Asians and Blacks combined are still less than Whites (33%).
I just have a problem with this film b/c they make it seem like the majority of LB is made of Blacks, sorry but that's not even close to true. Wilson High, hehh. sleep.gif

city of long beach demographics

I seen this movie last night, and I really liked it. I thought it was very well acted, and it's so inspirational. It's nice to know that there really was a teacher who cared for her students like this.
