i've seen some pretty blah ones on the street, that look dirty and whatnot
i'd like to see if anyone has pictures of their fd, not really fixed up but just clean with nice paint or something
also i know he really wants to ride in one/drive one.. so if anyone is around the LA area and can hook us up with a ride..
i'd like to surprise him for one of our anniversaries haha.

i LIKE. yours?? haha i love black & red cars..
actually i think those are the only two colors i'd get for a car.
other than a silver tacoma.. but that's ONLY for that truck haha. (and let's not talk about that)
i dunno if he'd like it though. my bf said he likes the original fd look.. i guess just cleaned up a little, not much modded
personally i'm now a fan of the one you just posted haha
ooh thanks for the wikipedia link.
i don't know if i could retain that much info though, even though i'm sure he knows it by heart.
i'd like to know, from any of the rotary owners or just people that know about it, what's the difference between the rotary engine in the RX7 & RX8?
(i'm way too lazy to look through the entire wiki article =X)
and why do people prefer one over the other? (whether it's RX7 over 8 or 8 over 7)

rx7's engine is turbo.
rx8's engine is naturally aspirated.

haha thank you for that! we went to zoomzoomlive and they had displays of the engine
and he explained it to me there
actually yeah he is kind of mechanically inclined ^^
we both know (or well, he told me) that they break down alot, and also something about the engine setting on fire (i don't know too much about that myself but that freaks me out slightly haha.. he told me some fd owners tend to keep a fire extinguisher in their car o-o)
but he says he doesn't mind because he is willing to work on it/find out how to work on it if he doesn't know
and also i think he probably likes the rx7 engine.. the rotary part of it and everything else, i'm assuming
so i doubt he'd want to change it up to something else haha even if it is a better balance

Rotary engines drink more gas and burn oil faster than conventional I-4's (Inline 4 cylinder engine). The pros... light weight, amazing power (1.3 liter engine), allows almost perfect weight distribution, small, and compact.
Go to youtube and type in "bad rx-7" That is 1 fine tuned machine. Rotary POWER!

old action pic (stock suspension in this pic)

for daily driving, auto x, and tight mountains the miata is the better choice. you will have just as much fun with a lower cost. or you could compromise and get an s2000. its like the perfect mix of handling, power, and reliability if you want a convertable
really? maybe i saw you guys there
and also i think he probably likes the rx7 engine.
no, the most common cause of fire in the FD is a leaky fuel pressure dampener. they are like over a decade old now and plastic in a harsh environment, so its sorta expected they'd leak. only problem is its kinda a pain to replace so a lot of people dont do it. they leak fuel on top the motor and thats how engine fires happen. if you just take care of the car it wont be a problem.
a stock fd motor can last over 100k miles if you dont treat it like poop. stock turbo II motors will last a little longer. N/A motors will last over 200k. just gotta make sure they are warm before you boost, dont turn the car off right after boosting a lot, make sure to rev the motor to redline every so often to help keep it clean (prevents carbon build up) and it will be fine. the thing about turbo rotarys is that everybody wants more boost, more power, and that leads to problems because most people take short cuts and dont want to spend the time/money to do it properly.

no way, the miata came first anyways. the miata pretty much single handedly revived the 2 seater convertible sports car market, the miata also has the largest spec racing series. the miata is a great car. the only people that say stuff like that are stupid high school kids.

my friend recently purchased an old FC.. breaks down every other day lol (fuel leak due to tuning to pass aircare? or something.)
I'd love to get an fd, or even an fc sometime, but the constant car maintainence really bugs the sht out of me. Considering I don't know much about cars to begin with.

Okay, heres the run down
Miata: Pros: handling and even more potential with a turbo or a v8 swap.
Cons: girls car, slow as balls
rx7: Pros: Handling is somewhat okay, power is okay
Cons: Rotary... Change Engine Light

its not a girls car and its not slow as balls. spec miata's (which arent even that modified, just intake/exhaust as far as power goes) can put down some respectable lap times. if its such a girls car why does it have such a large spec racing series? also miatas are pretty much universally recognized as being the best or one of the best cars to learn how to race in.
sure if you dont know how to take car of your car....

you dont have to justify why you bought your car to me. I doubt that most people who own miatas arent going to the road course all the time.

sure most people dont. but spec miata is the fastest growing racing series, so a fair amount of people do.
