Ditto~! I can't stand spending extra time working with my manager to re-write documents intended for upper management to suit her needs. The worst part is upper management has never had a problem with any of my documents which I submitted without her review. Her rationale is that if it is not written her way, management will just send it back to have it re-worked on. Funny how it ONLY happens with her revisions and I've never personally had a document returned. Sometimes we spend hours to proof-read a document... what a complete waste of time ~~!!!

I love the irony of life.
i am in the same boat!! maybe i should just plaster a huge neon sign on my forehead with the word LOSER so that i won't have any expectations.
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where--" said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat.

Today I was sent an email from my manager saying the India team can't figure something out. I read the email and basically responded with "That's BS. All the people needed to solve this problem are in India, practically sitting next to each other". Can my manager not understand that they do that to kill a day? They send an email and can't do "anything" until they receive a reply which is 24 hours later.

I hear you, it's a rather " difficult " lady in my case too, but it makes it worse that my director, who ultimately reviews the pieces has a different taste than she does, so basically to cut the long story short, it's nearly impossible to make them both happy at the same time. Quite frankly, I only have time to please one, and that is the man who signs my paychecks =)
--
My rant of the day:
My "supervisor" at work, she used to be a writer before she came to the design department, because as a writer, she received very poor reviews, at the risk of losing her job, she spoke with boss man and moved herself into the design department, (this was before I joined the company, we were in desperate need of design people because we were out-sourcing at the time, and it gets very expensive.).
She understands the basic usage of all related softwares and can produce basic works, however, she doesn't have the extensive knowledge of the programs and design itself, which is what you really do for what we do around here, I personally don't believe she's qualified for her role. After I came on board, we have a total of 8 designers, but we each cater to a different group of directors in the company, Me and her are a " team " that caters to one specific groups while the 6 other designers caters to others. (since she's been here longer, so naturally, she became my " supervisor " ). She's decided that it's best we split down in the middle with flexiability of course. That sounded very reasonable to me so I saw no reason to disagree.
As time goes on, I've came the realization that due to her lack of knowledge for this job, I have been doing 85% of the actual design and production work while she does very little. I'm going to go out on a limp here and say all she does is ordering & invoice processing. which if you ask me, it's more of an admin task than a design manager's job. She's naturally slower than all of us in terms of pace of work, so I can sit here and be done with 10 things by 5:30, but she'll stay after 'til 8pm working on design #3.
It bothers me that she stays late yet she does very little, because as far as everyone we cater to is concerned, me and her are a team. if she's staying late every night doing things and I'm gone way before she does, then it's natural to assume that either I'm slacking and dumping work on her or she's putting into way more effort than I am. which neither are true.
Again, due to her lack of knowledge for this job, she often can't finish things and would just dump them on me at last minute notice. I absolutely don't mind helping others or give her tips on those programs, but there's a time and a place. We work in an enviroment where our pipeline is explodes everyday with projects after projects, so it gets frustrating that I suddenly have a crap load of new projects in addition to my own. I felt she should make an effort to read books, take lessons, whatever it takes to master those programs.
I think most of us here are money driven professional who wants to make more, and I'm not any different, so the biggest bother I have with this is that, if I do more work, I do it faster and I do it better, why should she get paid more than I do just because she's been here longer? I'm not sure if this applies to other occupations such as lawyers, investors, etc (which I think it should applies to all occupations anyways), but it is my belief that esp in the design world, it shouldn't matter how old you are or how long you have been with the company, your salary should be based on how good you are at what you do. I don't believe it's fair for Bob to make 20,000 more than Tom just because Bob is older and have been with the company longer, while Tom is better at the job than Bob.
I'm sorry for such a long rant...

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..
For the MILLIONTH time.
I already handed in my schedule request. HOWEVER, I am NOT THE ONE WHO ACCEPTS IT!!!!!!!!!
The more you scream at me, the more you NAG AT ME, the more you torture me with whatever, that won't do anything to make my managers accept my schedule request any FASTER. I don't even know which manager accepts it.
PLease, just stop nagging me. T_T...How can you nag at me for the SAME TOPIC for MORE THAN THREE HOURS... WHAT THE HELL.............-__-

Note to self: Never work in foster care again....EVER....even if you are desolate, hungry, dirt poor....
I hate how...you get blamed for everything when the system is so messed up. I hate how parents act so freakin concerned and how they want their kids back...and yet they've had 30+ Protective services referrals against them before....i hate how other ppl who dont do their work and place the blame on you..............i hate foster care....
