i don't know about you guys, but i'm starting to notice a trend now with korean singles.
much like the japanese singles......... i don't know, but i see them more and more now.
like big bang came out with three singles before their actual first album.
i understand this is probably used for testing the waters, especially with new artists,
but how do you feel about it? seriously, i hate it because it's more of my money being spent
but then again i like to see frequent releases..... i'm still not sure how i feel about the whole thing.

also repackaged albums, but that's kind of another story. ph34r.gif

anyway, i'm just curious... sweatingbullets.gif

I noticed that too.. last year, SS501 came out with 2 singles.. and they've finally released an album this year. but I don't know if this was common because I came into the kpop scene later.. TVXQ did the same thing when they debuted. They've released Hug and .. I think The Way U Are before their first album.. I think it's just to test their popularity before they release a full album, since it's easier/faster to release a single than an album...

the repackages are probably a reaction to declining sales, to boost revenue.

Yeah,I think they are following japanese trend.
i don't like singles,(no choices,or variety of songs) indeed you have to buy everything the artist have to release in the future.

I prefer the Digital Disc this time.
It's light/handy/bring anywhere/very tiny/and it's one whole album./no one can copy/transfer to pc..

ahh the whole singles and albums discussion. yep they do follow the whole japanese thing. but i have to say that most singles are better than the albums. on some albums that i've seen they have a bunch of filler songs (songs there just to fill up space) while on singles all the songs are great and worth hearing. also singles give us a little preview u of what the artists (whether those new or the familiar ones) have to offer us before they release their album. without singles, i think i would die from boredom or waiting. (im over exaggerting a little bit but u guys get my point)

the only group that i've seen that have broken the trend of releasing singles before an album is super junior. they debuted last year with an album first and promoted two songs. and they didn't release their first single till this year.

The main reason is that album sales keeps declining every year. It saves money for record companies to release singles (only 1 or a few songs) rather than a full album. Besides, singers increase their exposure releasing singles so they can have a brand new song every few months.

Wow in a way both digital singles and full albums have a good and bad side too them.

Honestly, I like Full Albums better because it shows the artists have worked so hard for thw amount of tracks they have, but in digital singles are good too because your most likely to like 2 songs than like all 14 songs. but digital albums are mostly awesome because they usually have the instrumentals which i loveeeeeeeeee....favorite part about singles albums.

I don't really think they're 100% copying the Japanese Trend.

Maybe it's just me but I think they release singles because these days a lot of Korean singers are releasing things all over Asia, so they won't have time to do a full album in a short period of time. I also think that, if singers don't release singles or something between a LONG period of time that they were gone from the music industry, their popularity won't increase - because every song can bring some new fans. Plus like somebody said, the album sales keep declining each years & they don't want to spend money for that. Well I don't know, I think singles keep the singer up, so just when people are about to get tired of the latest album, a new single, BAM, and they won't get tired. LOL. Well that's me.

it's annoying yes, because it wastes money, but it's good to see if they become popular or not first, which is smart.

i dont really like the idea of singles.. nor repackaged albums
singles are like 1-2 songs then instrumentals of the same songs
and sometimes its not even worth it
such a waste of the money (for me that is)

but it means much more exposure for the singer
and some albums are just so boring, theyre even worse than singles
cause they have 1-2 good songs and everything else are fillers

but overall i like albums more
