I'm definitely not a Tech nerd, but I've heard that Norton sucks butt and McAfee > Norton. Why don't you try googling antivirus software available for trial download? I think you can get McAfee and Norton on trial download for 90 days. =)

I think nod32 is awesome.

AVG is supposed to be good and free.

Norton really s*cks! It'll only make your pc lag. Try AVG instead, it's free!

I use avast! and it's been the best AV i've used... ever. I've tried zonealarm, bitdefender, panda AV, norton, mcafee, and avg... and the only one i recommend is avast. tongue.gif

but i have no credentials or anything, so... yeah. avast!

edit: and it's free

"Avast!" Hands Down.

AVG is good but the program eats too much memory and avast! has better detection rate compared on AVG.

For my PCs I use nod32. It's the best, and doesn't suck up resources. I've even seen it update several times on a single day, that's how up to date they keep it. Worth every penny, but I mainly use macs now...

AVG is the way to go, but I'm not sure if it's not going to be free anymore. Supposedly on jan 15 2007, a new version will come out. I hope there's a free version included too or else I don't know what I'd do. I have norton but I uninstalled it...it was that useless.

I use McAfee because it's free if you have Comcast Internet.

I use Avast!. The best so far. I had Norton, Mc Afee and AVG before but I prefer Avast! It gave me a heart attact with the siren thingy when it found a virus but its all good...

that's the first thing I'd recommend people try... not specifically McAfee but whatever your ISP offers to you for free. Road Runner gives you eTrust's EZ Armour Suite which has the EZ Antivirus for free. EZ Antivirus is what I personally use and it's great. It's fast, good detection rate, updates every single day and, most importantly, it's not mainstream like Norton so virus writers don't tailor their viruses to sabotage the program and/or avoid detection unlike all the mainstream antivirus programs out there.

Try AVG or Avast! I used both and I really like it.
