Same with my sister's computer! She used to be able to watch DVD's on her computer, now DVD's just don't work on her computer. Still haven't solve that problem yet. But I'm starting to get a problem with something similar. It's been stupid lately and on that Sonic DVD burning program, it says no drive detected, and on Nero, I don't think it's burning videos. One time, my DVD drive wouldn't eject. My disc was stuck in their. I'm afraid there's something wrong with it. Help?

well, things break
try it in another computer, if you can, and if it doesn't work, chalk it up to a scratched laser or something and buy another one
if it works on another computer: virus/malware scan, check drivers, connections, see if the cds are scratched, do a system restore to roll back drivers and registry... the whole shebang

To everyone: Please try watching a DVD previously known to WORK with the dvd drive (as in you watched in on the drive before)
The reason I say this is because DVD manufacturers come with with some crazy and wacky schemes to keep you from copying dvd's to your computer- sometimes the schemes they use aren't recognized by the dvd drive and thus, fail to work. I have personally run into this problem even with Abot and Costillo movies from like, 20 years ago. So yea, if the DVD's previously watched work, then you can call up the manufacturers and complain that thier dvd's do not follow standard DVD format. If they don't work, then I guess something's up with the drive/disk.
Also, if you are having a problem with something, please make another thread about it instead of hijacking someone else's thread. It helps keep things more organized and you get a faster/better answer to your problems.
-Thanks

Disclaimer: I did not read any of your solutions, just the problem
Whenever a drive does not read anything at all or strangely just disappears we can often uninstall the drive from the device manager and windows will reinstall it. I know it sounds stupid, but it works great.

Summary:
Device manager
Right click the drive
uninstall
restart
Most of the time drives will still see the disk even if its worn down. It might take forever, or make horrible reading noises... but in the end it will read something. Maybe show a few files. But if its nothing at all, you actually have a little hope.
As for the stuck drive problem... just use a paper clip. Hit eject then stab the paperclip. Don't eject while its spinning, it will come out and you will get a scratched cd. Hit eject and it should make it stop then stab it out. No, you won't get electrocuted if you do it while the computer is on. Those drive just kinda get sticky over time or those belts dry out. Too much work to try to fix.
