I have bump near the top of my middle finger, its been there since I can remember. I hold my pens incorrectly and clutch on them too hard thats why its there. I wouldn't want to cut it off though seems really painful, it looks like its a part of my hand now. You can't really notice it that much so it doesnt bother me.

its called a writing bump. its a callice(i dont know how you spell it) i have it on both my right and middle finger cuz i switch off with the middle and ring finger when writing cuz i get tired...
it goes away when you stop writing for a while. like when your an adult and dont have to go to school anymore

That bump COULD be a wart. I used to have like 3 on my middle finger.
If sweat often while using your hands for stuff like, writing, typing, playing a game system you'll get a wart o.o
but i don't know if that's what you have. If you do then best thing is to freeze it off or cut it off with nail clippers.

[edit]

nvm, it might be a callice [sp] lol. I get those from playing guitar but i didn't know you could get them from writing >_<

callouses will go away with time...your skin just hardens there so that you're more resistant to abrasions. almost every joint on my right hand and the palm from tennis O_o, fingertips from guitar...

actually, after a week or so if you theyre not under particular stress they get pretty loose and you can pick them off tongue.gif that, or don't grip the pencil so hard ^__^

I used to have that too on my ring finger. It's because I pressed down too hard on the pencil when I was writing. I seriously shook the whole desk when I used to write. It went away now because I don't press down as hard.

yea i used to have that on my ring finger. i hold my pens/pencils funny so they'd press down on that area really hard and for a while, it was actually smooth there o.0; it's better now though because ive changed my grip.

yeah u can get them anywhere.. i have a callous on the pad of my left foot from my shoes...

yeah don't cut it!! oh man that would hurt i think... even if it's just a build up of hard skin.. ouch
Alice asked the Cheshire Cat `Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?'
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where--" said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat.

I ahve that, but mine is more like a dent, I think it's cos I write too much and put too much pressure on the paper when writing.

lmao, bumps on your friend

anyways, i have that too, on my middle finger.
i've had it since forever, but don't worry, it'll get smaller during the summer, since you won't be writing as much.

it's called a callous. it'll go away if you stop "pressuring" your finger whenever you write.

Heh, a friend once told me that if you have a bump on your middle finger, it means you have nice handwriting. But he's a joker...so I tend to believe that it's because I'm not using the pencil/pen the correct way xD

i have that too, on my right hand ring finger. it wasn't there until i started pressing hard when i write. i would stop pressing hard but my writting would be a mess and no one would understand what i wrote.

I have a callous on my right ring finger because of my writing style; if you change the way you write (less pressure, resting the pen/pencil on a different spot), the callous will fade over time. You can cut them off like your mom said, but the layers of cut skin will harden, and the callous will become worse. It's better to leave it alone and let time heal it.
