Biography

Blending elements of neo-soul, folk, old-time blues and pop, Justin has the guts of Ray LaMontagne and the soul of Lauryn Hill.

This guitar slinging aficionado has the street smarts of an urban swinger and the heart-bending soul of a gospel preacher, and is adept at blending a dark, bluesy Americana vibe with warm, acoustic soul where bits of old folk music and flamenco tunes swirl in and out of earshot.

Half Japanese, half American Justin Nozuka was born in New York and grew up in Toronto, Raised by a single mother, Justin was the sixth of seven children, where all four of his brothers are artists in some form. As a teen, he spun Motown, folk and hip-hop as he fleshed out his music skills learning guitar with his Mexican friends at boarding school.

During his short career, Justin has already snagged stage time with John Cale, Crowded House, Ziggy Marley, Sam Roberts, Jully Black and Xavier Rudd.

It's open aired honesty tightly knit. You've discovered something that's all your own yet it spans back stories and countries to fill a million yards and a hundred theatres. This could be Central Park, could be Massy Hall.

Yay a thread for Justin! Really, I love this kid. "After Tonight" was on repeat for days after I first heard it. I like his music better than his brother's and that little rasp he's got going on in his voice.

Right now i'm obsessed with 'down in a cold dirty well', the chorus is super catchy "helpless, hopeless, cold and lonely, only you can save me now. i think justin and george's voices are very similar just that they sing different styles of music. they have such a talented family. just hope that they come to America and perform

^^ Nope, I live in Texas which is the wrong side of the US to go show hopping in Canada- though that would be really really awesome.

he does a lot of performance in Ontario, but he's trying to go other places. I keep missing him lol He's been in London recently I believe, maybe he'll come to the states soon!

So yeah I wanted to bump this thread because I want to give him more exposure and to update! Just updated the first post with new videos, info and such!!!

His album is available in music stores across Canada (GO BUY IT PEOPLE!). I just bought it at Music World. I already heard most of his songs except for two. His last track 'If I gave you my life' is awesome, love it. Check out the video in the first post. It's not a performance or an MV, but it's got the song intergrated in it.

Also if you didn't know, he has an MV for 'Criminal', I think that's the first MV out in the UK? Not sure. He seems to be getting some good exposure in the UK! I'm glad! But what about Canada?!!!! People support!!! haha

Anyway, he's performing at the Harbour Front in Tornoto on July 14th, I want to go but I'm not sure if I will yet...got to get someone to come with me and also not sure if I am free yet.

After Tonight is definitely my favorite by Justin Nozuka. I can't say I like one more than the other. They're so different in music styles, it's hard to pick. But I definitely think that they are both very talented.

His style's more mellow and very urban where as George is more main stream but hey both Nozuka brothers are awesome and same goes for their little brother Phillip . It's very relaxing to listen to Justin's music.
