Do taking college courses at a local community college help boost your highschool gpa? But I talked to my highschool counselor and she said that if i do take classes at a community college, it won't be added onto my GPA. But will the colleges that i apply to add them to my gpa?
And If i want to do this, how many units does the class have to be in order for it to be added towards my gpa?

If you already talked to you guidance counselor, then it obviously won't boost your HS gpa. Also for the colleges you apply to, they will in no way "add" anything to your HS gpa it stands as it shows on your HS transcript!
The only time when college courses come into play is when college look at it as a way that you're "overachieving" yourself and depending on what type of colleges you apply to and what college you take the courses from, they might allow those credits to transfer with you when you enroll. For most of the top schools, they won't take credits from a community college.
Hope that helps, if you have any more questions let me know.
