Hi ppl! happy.gif

This question had been in my mind for along time now...I was thinking how the companies react to a foreigner who can speak good korean. For example as for me i'm (iranian) and i mean all of the korean ppl around me they are like WoOW blink.gif how can U speak kroean??/ my case is really rare i know dry.gif

Now i wanna know what do u think of their reaction or their decision??? Will this affect your talent?

well yeah i really wanna audition for some music companies (like by Demo songs or videos since i'm not in korea) but i'm so afriad of the thing of not being an asian. and also since your not there to explain that, it makes me feel worse tears.gif

Edit: i'm just only 18, not old right? sweatingbullets.gif

HM...interesting. I've always wondered that also since i'm not Korean. I was going to try out for the SM auditions but because I'm not Korean I was like forget it. In my opinion I think it may not matter to some company but in a way I think it does. But I always wondered that also.

What I know is YG doesn't care. SM, yes. They only want Chinese & Koreans as of now. YG has an african american trainee and Mr. YG already said that they won't discriminate against your race. IF you're good, they'd still want you. Perry isn't Korean (he's german? mixed with something) too but he's produce a lot of songs for YG.

^ ya thats great...thats why id rather be in YG....but then again i dont really have to worry about it cuz im korean...

SM right now are like only trying to get koreans...no idea why tho...they should expand their music marketing to other countries.....its better for singers and their profit

well im not korean either, so I know what you mean. I guess it'd be kinda wierd for the audience to get used to a korean singer that isnt korean. But if you have the talent they might get over that fact and support you on. ya know? Like lets say you make your debut and its really good, people might start talking and saying stuff like "wow shes not korean! But look how well she performs!" and so on. But no doubt you will get anti's who dont support non koreans ending up as entertainers. Some anti's dont even support people like Brian who was born and raised in america. Imagine how hard and tough it will be for a non korean from america, same thing goes to half koreans.

anyway im pretty sure jyp, sm, and yg dont care.. same thing goes for other companies. As long as you have talent. In the entertainment's eye when they first see you, they want "talent, emotion, courage, potential" nothing else. well im not sure about sm since I hear they only go for looks but they do have non koreans in their entertainment also. just show them what you got, and if their interested they'll pick you.

I heard she's a female and they gave her a Korean name, Lee Eun Chae? Correct me if I'm wrong ^^

No, the performers forum. There's different threads for different companies. Everyone in that forum is working hard for the auditions haha. http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?showforum=7

I'm non korean and I'm auditioning for a company (already auditioned for SM). So yeah, I know the president of Brothers Ent said he doesn't care about race and that everyone is welcome to audition and might be picked if you have talent. He also mentioned that it's harder for non Koreans to get famous, which means that they will go more for the Koreans. I'm sure most companies are like this. They do want to expand their horizons in asia (and the world), but they need people with talent as it's harder to get successful in Korea.

Wow that's really good if there are Korean Music companies out there that don't discriminate based on what your race is.
Honestly though, if you want to audition for a KMC, i personally think that it's better if you don't go for SM judging from what I've heard about that company.
If they don't want to get great performers (like yourself, I'm sure ^___^) that just don't happen to be Korean, then that's their loss, I guess.
It would be a bit safer if you stuck to trying out for companies like YG as said before...
I was considering trying out for SM earlier but decided not to, even though I am half-Korean already.
Somehow, I don't think that'll quite cut it... But then again, they chose Jang Ri Yin, didn't they? And she's Chinese... =S
Well if you DO decide to go for it, I really wish you (and anyone else) the best of luck with that!

I think for non-Koreans, they would look more for the talent. In my opinion, MORE for talent.
I know YG doesn't care about race, but it's AAAAALL about the talent.. I want to audition for YG, but they gotta be strict. >< They already have non-Koreans in their company, anyway.
SM looks for Chinese, Koreans and Japanese people.. I'm glad that I'm half Chinese, but I don't know about auditioning for SM.

But yeah, go to the Performers section - lots of information there. ^^

i don't know, when my friend went to audition for am last time (he's indian), he said that they seemed pretty interested in him. like they kept smiling at him and asking him all these questions. but yeah, since they are only looking for mostly koreans & chinese people at the moment..
but i like yg better cus yg doesn't really care about looks or ethnicity. just as long as you have the talent. but you'd have to actually be really talented. like.. a lot of sm trainees wouldn't be able to get into yg because yg looks for reallyyyy talented people.
