alright, talking about Arashi, i would have to say that i knew who they were since they debuted, but i was more into Da Pump, Speed and Max. din take notice of them as they were ard my age and prancing abt on stage. i din like to see young boys dancing in the past, but have gotten used to it since i like the guys in JE.

i used to be into jpop, but after tackey and tsubasa, i begun to hear more kpop and fell in love with the dance and all.

came back to jpop bcos of namie amuro and the famous gokusen 1/2. since then, i started to notice matsujun and kame and jin much later. i also got my hands on ikebukuro west gate park during my trip to taiwan, and started noticing yamapi. i met more yamapi fans along the way and watched nobuta, kurosagi, dragonzakura, etc. then watched hana yori dango1/2, stand up, and got to know abt kawaii nino.

met an Arashi fan at work, and she influenced me with their variety shows! lol. we even went to get C1000-everything since there's a Japanese supermarket in town tat sells everything japanese!

my fave used to be sho when they first debuted, then it bcame aiba, cos of the drama Mukudono, then it bcame jun, then nino, and before i know it, i like all of them!! there's really no priority as in who i prefer most! heheh <3

La Familia is really a song about frenship. i'm kinda touched to know that such frenships exist in JE. though i hope that Akame can become like that too..

quite touched about the bonds of these 5 young men. i hope that Arashi can last and bring more fun and laughter into our lives!

I do know a few of the Jpop boybands and most of them are Johnny's Jr. but I have to admit that Arashi's songs are the only one I like and they are the only group that I can tolerate watching every performance. Actually, the only Japanese singers I like are Arashi and Utada Hikaru...I try my best to memorize their songs...I also like Boa but she's not Japanese . I know that most people would say that compare to the other boygroups in JE...Arashi seems to lack the pretty boy looks of most bands ...like KAT-TUN and NewS but these five guys are cuter and better looking (my own opinion ). I like their sound more. Each song is different unlike others who seem to have the same melody..only different lyrics. They may have weird customes but have you seen their DOME postcards?!! If you haven't, I suggest you look at Arashi Vox website...it's all there...scanned for our contentment. Honestly, the reason that got me interested in Arashi is because of Momo-chan or more popularly known as MatsuJun-kun. I think most fans from South East Asia started that way since he is the most popular from the group in this part of the world. But after knowing more about them and their music I have to say that, yes Momo-chan is still number 1 in my heart, but I love all the boys..I just love them. I think they are unique in their own way but most especially I love them because, from what I have read, they love and care for each other like they are brothers... Now, you don't see that often. The only other Asian group I know of who treat each other like family is S.H.E.

Eh, this sounds like you don't know their music that well..
I mean, Arashi has never made techno.
And they have lots of songs, even these days, that include rap parts which are usually written by Sho.

The main tracks of the latest singles (We can make it!, Kitto Daijoubu, WISH) are pop songs, yes. Aozora Pedal is a ballad.
But that doesn't make their music bubblegum pop. There are other tracks on the singles as well.
And if you, for example, check their latest album: I can only find WISH and Kitto Daijoubu that would match "bubblegum pop".

As for their music before 2003.
From albums ARASHI NO.1 ICHIGOU 嵐は嵐を呼ぶ and Here We Go! are pretty much like all their albums: pop, rock, ballads, songs with rap..

I defenitely agree with you, i love all johnny's artist but if you compare the songs and all arashi and kinki kids defenitely pwan them on tht side. They don't exactly fit the idol image, i always thougt they left tht image long time ago but the things tht attracts the fans are not by their looks instead of their songs and their personality. I never like boybands bcos i hate the crazyfandom, seriously i hate it but arashi fans are one of the nicest fans i ever encounter before. I like the fact they don't outshine each other.

Oh my goodness! I had a small small moment in getting to like Japanese music. Which pretty much included....the Johnnys and a couple of other bands (asian kung fu, suga shikao...a few others). I have GOT to say that the one that I keep liking the best is Arashi.
Johnny's Music kinda...takes some getting used to, but Arashi's music recently is really cool to listen to~~ Lifts me up and makes me energetic.
I remember hearing something about them.....baaaaaaaaaaaaack in the day. I was like...so young! hahaha. I'm 20 now, so...they must have debuted awhile ago.
Anyway, I love how multi-talented they are and how their personalities are just so fun to watch. Sure, they're old, but they're still so cool! Thanks for making a thread on them. Maybe I'll come drop by occasionally and help translate something or the other.

My fave Jun drama is Kimi Wa Petto. Have you seen it? It's absolutely worth watching!

Jun vs Jin clip was funny Jun was making fun of the fact that he actually debuted 7 years ago (1999) while KAT-TUN debuted just a while ago (in that clip).

Iwo Jima is a good movie. I'm not into war movies, but I went to watch it as Nino starred in it. The way he played his character was amazing.

hahaha i think most arashi fans here got to know the band because of matsujun and his many dramas...

i agree, arashi and kinki kids (particularly dots and his crazy endlicheri project) produce some of the best songs along with shonentai and in terms of music kattun and news are way behind...

i like we can make it a lot, i don't think it's way better than love so sweet, i think they're both good... in terms of fast songs, i kitto daijoubu and a.ra.shi still top my personal arashi charts...

Jun smokes too. I wish he didn't but what can we do? In fact all of them do, but they are trying to quit (or already have?) because of Aiba who has lung problems or something like that.

I just discovered that Ohno is a really good singer and has a nice voice. I've heard how he has a good range and everything but I never thought he was really so good. He has such a baby face too and never seems to age despite being the oldest.

It is well-known fact that Rida has the best voice, not only among Arashi members, but among Johnny's.
His singing skills are amazing, not to mention his dancing skills.
