also, as much as those cramps hurt, try not to roll up into a ball and lie in bed. that's going to make the cramps worse because your muscles are being cramped. believe it or not, exercise will help. try going outside for a nice walk.

this is what she said in reply to a audience member's question about her painful cramps:
Some women get such bad cramps that they can hardly do anything but lay on the couch with a heating pad. Is there any way to decrease cramps when they're so debilitating?
"There are a lot of things to do for cramps," Dr. Masterson says. "As a gynecologist, I get asked this question every day. The warm packs are a great thing. The other things you want to concentrate on are diet and exercise. Very simple but it actually helps with cramps. Now the other thing is Motrin, a great pain reliever for cramps. The trick is to take it a day or two before your period actually starts." Dr. Masterson says taking pain relievers and calcium work to help blood vessels in the uterus.
Other ways to control cramps are with acupuncture and contraceptives, she says. "Birth control pills are excellent at taking away cramps because they decrease how much you bleed. And a lot of women take the contraceptives continually so you don't get a period and therefore you don't get the cramps."

I get really bad cramps to the point where I can't do anything, but I found the times I exercised, I had almost no pain when my period came.

1. FEB 1-FEB 10
2. MARCH 28-APRIL 5.
That way, you sort of calculate when your next period is going to begin. It doesn't help detect the EXACT date, but around that day; but sometimes its a little messed especially if your period comes randomly during your first few years of having it. But my periods have been regular, so this list works for me. If you kind of know the date, then you can AVIOD eating cold things. Ice cream, COLD milk, etc. Anything cold, stop eating it a couple of days (1 week is a good too) before your period starts (Thats where the list comes in handy) and you'll have no cramps at all (Like I have). Or your cramps might be less severe. Believe me, I've used this for a while; and it helps. I also take this herbal thing my mom makes for me, 3 cups a day before I start my period, and 3 cups after. Its suppose to help your system or something.
Oh yes, another thing. DON'T eat so many pills, it's not good for your body. If you keep eating pills like this (Even if the pain is UNBEARABLE), the relief it causes for you (Like less pain), your body will be more used to the pills, and your pains will remain the same since you've eaten the pills almost every time you've had your period. If you do have unbearable pain, try NOT to eat pills, and just comfort yourself with a heating pad, and when your pains are less severe, try and get some excerise or do your own things.
This is just from my own experience, and also advice from a doctor.

i used to throw up everytime single time but these days it's gotten a lot better
for a while i used motrin then my mom's friend reccommended midol so i got a pack but eventually i ran out and started using motrin again
it's not as bad once you have motrin/midol and an electric heating pad (:
or try to concentrate on something that you really enjoy doing
