not sure if this belonged in relationships or health..but it has more to do with healh right?

well my friends were talking about the weird pre-menopausal behaviors of our moms and they all said that some women get extremely moody and unbearable to be around during the time of menopause. They especially looked at ME while saying this because they all know my mom is already very ill-tempered and hyper sensitive to everything. Now I'm scared. My mom is already pretty unbearable at times (she basically has a very b*tchy unreasonable personality and is very intimidating) so does that mean she'll be a total nightmare to live with when she hits menopause?

PLEASE THIS IS A SERIOUS TOPIC!! She's hit the pre-menopausal age...late 40s...so I'm very worried. She's bad enough already. Anyone else's mom been through this stage yet?

If shes that bad how can she get any worse? Haha
When she is going through it, just imagen yourself going through it in 30 to 40 years. So yeah try to be nice to her and get out of her way.
Menopause for every women is different. Ask your mother how her mother (your grandmother) was.

my aunt has menopause and yeah she becomes very ill tempered or has crazy mood swings
but the doctor gave her pills and so when she takes them she is fine~ so maybe you should take your mother to the doctor and have her checked out.

my mom has menopause now , and surprisingly she's hardly ever moody ! only when you get into her bad side , that's when she really acts out .
but my mom's really calm , she's more happier and to be honest waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more nicer than before !

Well, she's like that, but it's been like that ever since I was little, so I'm guessing it's her personality, not menopause.

With menopause? ... Let's all hope for the best.

oh gah... i think my mom's going through pre-meno.. seriously in the past few months she can go from happy to mad in a split second and then a minute latter she's fine. i alway pray that my brother would come back so she puts it on him instead LOL.
but anyways, i don't think it'll get any worse. but just in case, take her to a doctor for help when she does go through it, that is if she needs it. the menopause site is very helpful though, i've been there to check the symptoms because i was curious.

okay my mum's through with menopause already and im not trying to scare you but it was hell for me.

she gets super irritable. she has an unbearable temperament. she feels hot all the time. you cant talk back to her. she laments all day(and night). she lashes out at everyone over the slightest things. basically shes like the bratty spoiled princess in the house.

and unfortunately her menopause coincided with my rebelious age and we couldnt get by without an argument once a week. i couldnt stand her. she couldnt stand me. there was a period we didnt speak to each other for a month and a half. it was this bad. oh and there was a period she actually went into depression.

then again she was already like that before menopause. my mum can be really irrational at times and shes emotionally, mentally and physically weak. so menopause just aggravated it. besides she hit menopause in her early to mid forties which isnt good. if your mum can handle menopause well i think YOU will be fine. haha.

if your worried you can do her a favour by buying her promensil, clicky. its an alternative to hormone pills. without hormone pills to regulate her body she'll get hot flushes all the time and thus becoming very irritable and hot-tempered. but im sure you've heard of the dangers of hormone pills, so maybe you can try promensil. its protects the heart and other organs too and yada yada you can do your own research at the website. my mum used to take promensil for a period of time and her temperament was a little milder, but stopped caused she found it pretty expensive.

honestly i think you shouldnt be worried about her having a bad temper as much as her health. menopause indicates the possible onset of many health problems like osteoporosis etc. as a matter of fact my mum's suffering from high bp. just try to bear with her because your mum will get better(mine did) and seriously, watch her health.

To be honest i'm not even sure if my mum's going thru the menopause. I don't ask her, she nags us all the time and it doesn't seem any different, i don't hear her having hot flushes etc. She's in her early 50's. I'm worried too, we sometimes argue already, if she's going to be worse i might try to move out sooner. sweatingbullets.gif

My mom went through menopause and is post-menopausal. At first, I didn't realize why she was so cranky and angry, so I reacted pretty badly, which led to a chain reaction. After two years of it, though, I've learned to deal with it. Just relax and breathe, reminding yourself that you wouldn't want your child in thirty to forty years to react violently during such an unmanageable and uncomfortable part of your life. Just be patient. If you don't react, or react with gentle words, there can be nothing to complain about or yell about.

i went through some tough times with my mom when she went through menopause. we'd always disagree and we'd always fight but when i went overseas for college and my mom visited me for vacation, i promised myself i wouldn't argue with her and be agreeable, when her trip ended i realized we had never argued all that time and it just made me feel elated knowing we can get along. it's been three years since that memorable vacation and we don't have any serious argument.
women will all go through menopause and it's best to just be patient especially with our moms when they go through that time and when they do get cranky and mean don't take it personally rather think of it as the "menopause" talking.
it's important to shower them with love and understanding not just during that phase but all the time.^^

wow judging by all the replies, maybe my mom's going through it right now. or maybe she's just always been like that. she calls me all the time just to yell at me for every little thing.

this one is the best :
mom: what time did you come home last night?
me: 1
mom:you said you were coming home early!!!!
me: my boyfriend fell asleep and i couldnt wake him up
mom: why did you have to wake him up?! you're so selfish you dont care about anyone else why couldnt you just walk to the train and leave the poor boy alone blah blah blah

dry.gif

so it's already hell for me. i think she's too young for menopause so i just hope to be out of the house before it gets even worse

I don't know....women on menopause are like time bombs, sometimes they will go off and sometimes they won't...my mom is moody beyond all belief though, which is why I'm glad I go to a school on the opp. coast
