What were your reasons for going abroad? How was it beneficial to your studies/work?
And whatever else you want to put in. ^^
**Its expensive too, isnt it? Did your parents pay for it? Did you pay for it?
And to go abroad, you have to go through a university, correct?

but it would be such a good experience, i think. going to new places, learning about the town and their culture and experiencing a completely new social surrounding for a quarter or year.
bah, maybe one of these days..

Well I'm going next year but mainly to gian independance and more control of my life? Hoepfully it'll help me manage a lot more in uni as well as give me a break form the hard core studying I'm doing this year jsut to get in +_+. I also get to learn a lot of the language naturally (to go towards my studies) and i get ot do some volunteering that i've always wanted to do. Its also a good time to live the life in korea and enjoy it and travel!!

No idea how much it's going to cost... actually my main aim for the year is about $20,000? $10,000 will be for flight, visa, insurance, accomodation, food etc. my parents are giving me that money as an exma present and 18th birthday present. The other $10,000 is to actually live there... go out... eat out... travel and what nots. Wow it sounds big now that I've typed it in USDs... It's £10,000 for my year (it sounds a lot better in pounds! +_+). I'll hopefully be fundraising that =)

nope. i'm going through a charity organisation but if you want to study abroad then... well that would be a no to. you could apply direct to the uni or through a uni. or... just get a visa.

well i guess technically me going to college here counts as study abroad, but let's ignore that... when i went to mexico last summer, it: 1) fulfills my ge and honors and humanities foreign language requirements, 2) fulfills my honors service requirement since it's a volunteering/study abroad program, 3) looks good on my resume since the volunteering aspect involved painting murals and i wanna do art direction, 4) was a lot of fun
and that's how i plan to do it in korea (either next year or the year after that)
my parents paid for it but then again my academic scholarships covered half the cost, so technically i paid for half of it...
you are not the picture on your avatar...
you are not your bloody post count...

20k as a present? x_X Do you know if financial aid would cover some expenses? Do you have any names of charity organizations that offer going abroad? Because I'm not really feelin the actual 'study' part of studying abroad =x Where would you stay?

You'll gain so much more in Europe than in Korea..imo
And if you are going abroad through uni and you are eligible for financial aid, I believe it will cover for all of your tuition and possibly more. Well, at least for European uni's.
And..honestly, you don't go abroad to "study" =D, it's all for experience and fun.
It's EUROtrip!

Not really..after having spent extended periods of time living in both Europe and Asia I'd have to say it really depends on what your goals are. Someone who wants to learn Korean or do a major related to Asia will not get that much out of Europe. I would agree though that particularly in the area of humanities the colleges in Europe are going to be far above other ones (and many have courses geared towards foreign English speakers), but if you want to study abroad in Asia then going to Europe is obviously the wrong choice
