SYNOPSIS
Each challenge, just as in the past two seasons, will be followed by a tribe member's banishment to Exile Island, where they will again be given clues to locate a hidden immunity idol—which, in a twist, there will be two of. While CBS touts this season's cast as "diverse," the network is wisely staying away from the debacle that was last season's racially segregated teams, this time splitting groups into just two tribes. The difference this year will be in the provisions afforded to each team. The tribe that wins the initial immunity challenge will be sent to a camp that's fully stocked with survival resources, while the losing tribe will be sent on its way with just one pot, one machete and a single water source. Survivor: Fiji, which managed to complete its shooting without any ill effects from a coup in the island nation, kicks off Feb. 8 on CBS with Jeff Probst returning as host.

Yay, another diverse cast.

I usually bash most reality TV, but I've always watched Survivor and always found it interesting. I don't know what it is about the show, but I'll probably end up watching it until they cancel it lol.

This one looks pretty cool, can't wait to see it!

This cast has a lot of older people in it.. Survivor 13 was definately the BEST. I can tell Fiji isn't going to be as appealing because 1) there aren't a lot of hot people 2) there are more older people

I have a feeling the guy, Earl, is going to be hated on.

Wtf, is it bc he's African American?

In anycase the way they plan on starting it off sounds crazy haha. Spoil one group, force the other to work their way through the majority of the comp.

almost same here... i can't get into the reality genre unless it's survivor or project runway. i'm so happy they decided not to revert back to the normal barely-any-minorities cast. season 13 was awesome because it was so diverse, and it got better when they mixed it up and stopped making a big point about race. so i think this season definitely has potential.

still... as far as hometowns go... talk about lack of diversity... i definitely think they need more people from cali. ten isn't enough.

speaking of PR, contestant nick verreos' sister is in this one. haha.

actually, one thing i've always disliked about survivor is the total lack of people who are not twenty-something. some of my favorite contestants have been the old peepz holding it down. 70-something rudy from season 1 who made it to the final three -- AWESOME. possibly my favorite survivor ever.

Yeah, Rudy was pretty fly. I liked Roger also, season 2. He wasn't a badass like Rudy, but he was like one of those nice old guys who never does anything to piss anyone off. Like the kind you'd want as your grandfather or something.

I don't think lots of older people would appeal to most people, of course, but I like it that way. Last season, who was the oldest person? I didn't even think there was anyone older than 50. I like the older people more, they're less b--chy and they're not always trying to use their "good looks" to their advantage.

Yeah. I was cheering for Rudy to win it. And I remember Tina won; she was pretty old.

Hmmm ... I didn't watch last season. Never had the time. This one seems pretty interesting ...

And Jessica is pretty cute. haha

oh yeah! i met roger once because there was a survivor premiere viewing party where i lived and some of the past contestants showed up. he was actually the only survivor i approached that actually asked me how i liked the party and the show and stuff. my bro's friend knew him and said he was really one of the nicest people ever. i believe it.

i think i root for the older folk because they kinda seem like the underdog in that setting. like i look at that little old asian man (this season, not cao boi) and feel like he's not going to get anywhere, but i hope he does.

yeah... jessica looks like... that pretty girl from sex and the city... i've never watched it but you know who i mean.

Such a diverse cast!! I have a feeling a hispanic person will win this one. They have such interesting bios.

I don't think this season will be that interesting as last season. I SOOO enjoyed last season when Yul won!

I think I read a spoiler where
Spoiler
There's only 3 old people this season, and there were 2 old people last season---I really don't see much of a difference. Unfortunately, old people don't usually win though---there's supposedly an old person bias on Survivor.

in the future, please use the spoiler tag when writing stuff like that instead of potentially ruining it for people who read the thread. i've edited your post for you this time.

Just watched the first episode. Eh. I don't have any favorites at all this season. Seemed kinda boring to me compared to last season which was much of a story. I kind of Stacy, the taller asian woman, but there was so little air time of her.

Was anyone offended when someone called Michelle a monkey?

I kinda hate how they jumped right into nicknames so early into the season; actually only when they have the alone time w/the camera.

"Boo, Rocky, Dreamz?" Should've stuck w/real names for those segments.

Jewelz, it's almost been standard fare for Survivor to run 2 seasons a year.

Haha, my Physics teacher was talking to us about this!! Yau-Man is the father of a girl that graduated from our high school last year & they [Yau-Man and my teacher] happen to be neighbors.

I was planning on watching the first episode tonight, but I forgot sad.gif

^ Yeah, last season was incredible but I'm still going to give this one a shot. I'm glad this season's cast is diverse again. The first episode was alright but I'm sure it'll get more interesting later on.

i didn't take it that way, since it seemed to be meant only as a compliment. she's short but wiry, and i think all he was trying to say was she seems tough for her size.

i'm so rooting for yau-man right now. using knowledge of physics instead of brawn to open that box! that's just awesome.

No, the other dude he was talking to called her a "Ninja". They were refering to her outdoor skills/agility. When my sister was younger, I used to always call her a monkey cause she climbed trees all the time.

Yeah, I always think that when a new season starts lol. I don't most of who is who and I'm always like "God, this'll probably suck.". Usually takes me a few episodes to get in it.

Haha, yeah me too. I started laughing when he opened the box after those other 2 guys couldn't.

I wonder if Rocky will be the next Shane (season 12?). I thought he was obnoxious at first, but he might not be that bad. He'll probably mouth off a lot though. I could see myself going either way with him.

I felt sorry for Sylvia. =/

I thought it was so stupid when everyone was talking about how annoying Sylvia was when she was giving instructions. They were just standing around drinking (dehydrated already? really?) when they needed to build a shelter.

It took me several episodes last season to get into it, so maybe I'll find someone to cheer for in a month or something. I don't know, I miss Ozzy. >_>
