My ears have the tendency to get infected sooo easily. When I remove my earings to clean, i alwasy get this gross yellow stuff. I need some help. Anyway to prevent them from getting infected or at least heal them faster. I use alcohol to clean them out a lot but they still bleed. It really sucks. And when it doesn't hurt, it itches. tears.gif

Was it recently pierced? I don't think you're supposed to take it off when you're cleaning your ear ..

use antibiotic ointments. that's what i use when it was swollen and looked infected. apply it on twice a day after you're done cleaning for a week and it should be fine. if not, go see a doctor just incase. hope it heals perfectly! smile.gif

don't use alcohol,, (esp if it bleeds)
cause it tends to dry up the wound/piercing
and for it to heal you want like a moist enviroment kinda thing,,

so use anti-septic or like hydrogen peroxide

soak your ear in warm salt water.
if you just got it pierced, you're supposed to leave it in your piercing and not take it out
when it feels itchy, resist the urge to scratch it thats when its healing...

if you really have a problem you should take the piercing off and let the hole close up

They have special antiseptic solutions for ear piercings. Also try wearing real gold accessories rather than the fake accessories because they gave me infections for the longest time. I switched to a pair of 14k earrings and after a long time (i guess my holes got healed and such) i was able to wear fake accessories also.

a lot of my ear piercings have gotten infected at one point or another [my body doesn`t like piercings, apparently]~ and from my experience, i would say to keep using rubbing alcohol but dilute it a little bit.

lol i asked the person piercing my ears how often i'm REALLY supposed to be cleaning my ears
and she said she only cleans hers when they start feeling irritated (read: start hurting unbearably)

i'm doing the same now, it's working pretty well haha
the taking out and the cleaning and the putting back in is full of bacteria too

if u pierced it recently, then youre suppose to leave it on for 6-8 weeks because u need to let your ears heal from the wound. i had that too when i got mine first pierced, all yellow stuff and blood but just pour the alcohol bottle into your ears with the earrings on. and well, if u didnt just get it pierced, then put ointment on and if it still does it, take it out and let it close up or go see a doctor.

the yellow thing is just the puss , its a natural thing when u get your ear pierce.

But the best way to prevent from ear infection is to clean it with alcohol everyday, works for me =]

Yeah, that.^

On top of that, alcohol is a poison. You want to stop it from getting into your body as much as possible.

However, I would suggest cleaning the actual earring with alcohol so that stays sanitary. As for cleaning your actual ear, use an anti-septic or hydrogen peroxide like hysteric suggested.

Oh that happened to me a couple months back..

What I did was I took out the earrings, cleaned them with alcohol, then cleaned the front & back of my ears with a bit of alcohol or salt water. Do it three times a day (morning, afternoon, before you sleep), and you should be ok in 3 weeks time smile.gif

hmm when i wore earrings before, i wouldnt have a problem but then one day when i was wearing my usual fake earings, my ear was itching and then it got infected -__- so i used rubbing alchohol on my ear for a while and stopped wearing the earrings so now my ear is fine and the ear holes didnt close up even though i dont wear earings anymore because everytime i wear fake earrings, my ear gets itchy and i dont want it to get infected again sleep.gif if i wear the earrings on for one day it's okay though.. @__@

I believe that you`re not supposed to use alcohol.. and that the Claire`s cleaning solutions aren`t very good either. It`s best to stick with sea salt + warm water in a cup, and put your ear in it for about 5 mins.

The earrings you may be wearing could be the problem. Some people can't wear fake earrings or stealing silver. It's the case with my sister. She can only wear gold or white gold earrings. They tend to get itchy, turn red and become infected. So you may want to change the type of earrings you're wearing.

i have the same problem =( my ears have been peirced ever since i was like 5, then i got my second hole like 2 years ago.. and lately it's been going dry, or nasty yellow stuff comes out when i take out earrings too xD or something to that effect. I tried to just leave my ears alone but it's still dry. I even use vaseline on my ears to keep it from being dry but it comes back :| It doesn't really bleed or swell up or anything.. so I didn't know if it was "infected" so i didn't use anything on it. Though, when I think my ears were okay again, I put on some earrings.. and same thing happens allll over again x(.. Now I just leave them... and I've lost 1 of my 4 peircings so it's like uneven now sad.gif I decided I'm just going to ask my doctor when i see him
