my science teacher told me if you're out in the sun a lot u start getting moles. and if you get a LOT then you can get some kinda disease.. so always wear sunscreen? XD
It’s not easy for me to say this, so listen to me carefully. You just might hear it. I love you.

^--- same here.
I hate the sun, and I found all these little 'moles' on my right hand, and arms.

I don't call them moles, I like to call them 'beauty marks', moles make it sound bad. haha

That's only if the moles continuously grow which is a sign of cancel, otherwise not.

are dark dots considered moles? i thought moles are something that protudes out and you can feel them.

'cause i got some moles (the dot kind) .... where the sun doesnt shine-- recently found one in a very unusual place where it was NEVER touched by the sun blink.gif

Yes.. one started forming on my right cheek.. I spotted when it was very very very light. Everyday, it got darker.. it's kinda disgusting, but when it got pretty black (about 2-3 weeks after I first spotted it), I basically broke my skin with a safety pin, and squeezed it out. It felt like a tiny stone stuck on my face.... It was nasty, but I was SOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY.. omg. I was soo ecstatic that it came out.. o_O

You don't have to be exposed to sunlight to get skin cancer or sunburns for the matter. The sun's UV rays can pass through the clouds too. So don't be decieved by a cloudy day, because a bright UV emitting sun is right behind it. The sunlight might be blocked by the clouds, but UV will go right through. It would be wise to seek professional help... ie doctor.

Usually if its just a common skin cancer, radiation therapy will get it right out! Protection is as simple as sunscreen or even wearing clothing over bare parts of your skin to reduce the amount of UV reaching your skin will help a lot! Glass usually stops all UV, so sitting in a car with sun coming down on you shouldn't have any UV rays coming through the glass.

Uh, just make sure you're not confusing them with freckles.
Moles are raised (slightly or a lot, doesn't matter.) Freckles are flat. Freckles are caused from being out in the sun, I dunno about moles.

And yeah, a mole can be cancerous, so you have to watch it. If it changes in colour or size or shape or whatever you should get it checked.

freckles can be cancerous too. And just because it is winter dosen't mean that the sun is not still there. You can get burnt and get harmful uv rays on a cloudy day. the one that you just got can be a result of years of combined sun exposure. As long as it is not: a funny color, have an irregular border, larger that a pencil eraser, or change over time, I wouldn't be too worried.

ALWAYS wear sunscreen. Sun damage is HORRIBLE.
