my friend's in debt to her parents and sister too, but only $2,000 approx. however, she's only on $120 approx./fortnight so it's going to take forever. she hardly goes out anymore which sucks, because we're on a longg break right now.

I originally wanted a Mini Cooper too...until I saw the interior. It's the ugliest piece of crap I've ever seen. How can they make such a cute car and miss so badly on the interior?
For the person who asked, no, I don't live in Vegas. I live in Arizona.
Yeah my situation pretty much sucks. But I think I'm slowly getting over it. $13,000....oh boy. Nope, not over it yet.
That's what I keep thinking...but then again, the sole reason I even got a job was so that I would HAVE money while I was in college. Now I'm going to have nothing at all.

with nothing to spend for yourself.
he probably doesn't expect you to pay him back w/in 1 1/2 years.
he's just giving you a sense of responsibility and teaching you how to save money and such.
although you didn't ask for the car, you should be grateful for it.
your only 16 and you already get your own car.
i'd be pretty damn proud if i were you that at 16, i can already drive myself to higschool in a brand new car

i saved up money and bought myself a 89 honda crx hf (....which i drove for about two months before crashing it into a mountain)
so, please don't complain
but i will agree -- i like that color. it's "cute"
just make small payments to your dad over a period of several years, then just tell your dad you want to sell the car. kinda like leasing the car for a fraction of the cost. if you get some of the money from selling it, all the better.

That's what the warranty is for
I've had it for three days and it already has 95 miles on it. I feel like I'm ruining the car every time I drive it! It's so new and clean!

$13,000 seems like a lot now, but realize this, as time passes, wages generally go up (small but something) to comphensate for cost of living etc. I remember when I worked two days a week part time one day and one full day on the weekend and still made about $6000+ a year. It won't be so bad once you pay it off.
On the otherside, if my parents dropped a new car on me and wanted me to pay it, i would tell them to sell it, because I don't have to accept this gift. If i had to pay half, i'd definitely think about it, because half is covered. Half is better than nothing, so thats still good. Maybe they will cut you a break later, who knows?
Yes, VW Beetles do tend to have some problems... i've seen so many at a dealership repair shop, sometimes even seeing the same car twice (VWs in general)! I swing by there for parts for my car (its a multi brand dealership), and a overwhelming majority of cars there are the VWs. My tip is, keep the car maintained, and if a problem does arise, do not heistate to fix it, prolonging it can lead to more problems and more expensive problems later.
