The screen resolution is even better on this one vs the iPhone. But apparently the UI is a little slugish but 'acceptable'

I believe that the LG one came out first plus LG made the iPhone I think. I read it somewhere.

The specs I have seen put it at 240 by 400.

the Apple iphone is 320 by 480.

Strangely there aren't that many specs easily findable on the net. Maybe they used giant hands in the photo but the LG looks smaller.

Yeah, LG came out FIRST... And then the iPhone was introduced so some people are bashing apple and calling them biters... And I'm one of them XP

Wow, there are so many unwarranted bashers of Apple out there. Are you people even listening to yourselves?

Some of the greatest electronic products were not even part of the first wave of their inventions. Who cares who did it first? It only matters who does it better. Maybe what you guys need to do is sweep away your hatred for a certain company and have an unbiased opinion on the products they release. This does not just go for electronics, but life in general.

What if the iPhone happened to be an innovative product? Would you deny it because of your bias against the company that produced it? Honestly, I am sick of that.

I really like the way the iPhone looks and the way it is used from the looks of the keynote speech at MacWorld, but if the LG KE850 is anywhere near the same complexities of the iPhone at a largely reduced price, then I may might as well purchase the LG K850 (that's saying only if I need a new phone at the time).

^^ APPLE fanboi!!!!!

*hides his apple macbook*

Funny thing is, the KE850 has been floating about since October 2006, and how many people even noticed?

EDIT: Actually it's only been around since December:

http://blogs.zdnet.com/Apple/?p=359 - It was rumoured to be the iphone, but I don't think that rumour is true. For instance the KE850 phone doesn't have a lot of memory, and the interface shows a rotate button to rotate the screen to landscape, so it looks like it doesn't have orientation detection either.

end of edit smile.gif

And at the risk of revealing my true colours as a Apple apologist who believes apple can do nothing wrong.. er, yeah, you got to admit the KE850 kinda looks like a black video ipod - shiny metal back, rounded corners. And the wallpaper in the 4th KE850 shot, that kinda looks like the Apple Aqua Blue wallpaper. Mmmm who's copying who huh?

Haha don't take it seriously... phones and mp3 players aren't worth getting angry over. If this was a Nikon vs Canon war, that would be something different happy.gif

My first impression of the photos were I thought they were photoshopped. The GUI looks identical. But if really in fact LG came out with it first, they should have made a bigger impact with it. Brag your butts off. It's a pretty phone and a cool concept. I personally don't want one, but I have to admitt it is pretty cool. Now Apple took away their thunder and probably innovation. Bleh... but who knows.

Even though LG came out first, I think I'd still go with the iPhone.

Many in Asia are ignoring the iPhone because their cell phones do more. CNN's Eunice Yoon reports (January 17)
- CNN.com Technology

"...during a recent interview where he [Steve Ballmer] was questioned about the iPhone, he proceeded to not only compare Apple's forthcoming handset with the "$99 Motorola Q," but insisted that the iPhone was "by far the most expensive phone in the marketplace," which couldn't be further from the truth."
-Engadget

"According to iSuppli (no affiliation with Apple, of course), the 4GB iPhone will yield a "49.3 percent profit margin on each unit sold at the $499 retail price," while the 8GB rendition will kick back a 46.9-percent margin. You heard right, they're supposing the $499 mobile only costs Apple $245.83 to produce, while the 8GB flavor demands just $264.85."
- Engadget

You know how Steve Jobs and Apple like to boast of the iPhone's ability to function as a "widescreen iPod?" Well, anyone who sat in Moscone Center to witness the holy unveiling surely noticed the screen cropping (letterboxing) that occurred when Steve played Pirates of the Carribean. That's because the iPhone isn't "widescreen" as the term is customarily understood outside of the reality distortion field -- it is not a 1.78:1 (16x9) aspect ratio. Rather, the display utilizes a 1.5:1 aspect ratio.
- Engadget

*cough* sure, I'd pay $600+ for this. harhar

See how bad some people can be with their hatred of Apple?

yeah..apple blows. laugh.gif

anyways, as for the LG release...it's headed to europe...it's 900/1800/1900. so would work on Tmobile here, but not on Cingular (or not have reception in some areas).

i don't know why LG didn't include wi-fi. i think all phones should come with built in wi-fi these days. sure..the carriers want u to get their data plans...but cingular forces u to get one regardless.

Judging from your first post you gave your opinion of the iPhone, why can't I? I myself know nothing about the LG KE850 so have refrained from stating whether it's better or worse than the iPhone.

I wonder what the battery life would be, I know the NEC N908 doesn't do too well.
