New question~

Hello~ Long story short, I reinstalled Windows XP. I used to be able to see Japanese, Chinese, etc. script on my computer but now I can't see them anymore. I already installed the Asian language pack but it still doesn't work. Especially when I use the Yahoo mail I can't see any of the Japanese or Chinese characters in the emails, they come out as weird symbols. Can anyone help me with this? What should I do?

Thanks so much! smile.gif

Lets try to tear your question apart.

I got the trojan virus on my Dell laptop so I reinstalled Windows. Now I'm having problems getting stuff back. Hew do I reformat after I reinstall Windows?
Okay what do you mean by reformat? What did you do with your laptop? Did you format or did you reinstall it all? Best way to summarize, reinstall your files still there. Files all gone probably a restore to default settings OR a full wipe and format of your hard drive for a clean XP install with an XP disk.

And how can I get back the wireless access on my laptop? After I reinstalled, my wireless connection doesn't work..do I have to do something to get it back??
Yes... I guess you formatted then. Your laptop... go to dell look for the drivers... Sometimes you can just enter the service tag number somewhere on the bottom and it will tell you what you need to get. You probably could benefit form getting the drivers for it anyways.

Also, when you use dsl broadband, do you need to have wireless access? (sorry if it's a dumb question, I'm really not good with computers.)
In the past, did you use your internet on wireless? Its not necessary at all... you can connect to any form of internet wired or wireless. You can just connect a standard network cable to your laptop and hope it works. happy.gif

Hi! Thank you for your response!
Sorry for my confusing description. I didn't know what the difference was between formatting and reinstalling. ^^;
What I did was I reinstalled Windows XP with an XP disc. So does that mean everything got wiped out? I can't even get the sound back to work. What do I need to do to get some of the functions back to working?
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it!!!

If you know your laptop's model number.... or service tag... you can go to dell or post it here and we can try to find the drivers you need.

General page.. http://support.dell.com/ if you want me to diig further... I would need more info happy.gif

Looks like you will need to download all your drivers again for your components.

Download Everest Home Edition and then look at what sound card you have, what wireless adapter and then search for the drivers on the internet.
We all wear masks. Everyone, everyday... sometimes we wear them so much, we forget who we really are. And sometimes if we're lucky, someone comes along and shows us who we really want to be, who we should be.

Tumblrrr.

Thanks for the replies again! You've been very helpful.
I looked at the Dell site for the drivers, but I'm not sure about which are the important ones I need. Here is the site for my laptop model:

How do I find out which sound card I have???

Thank you!!

Ahaha good job!
o_o
actually its all right there.

Just click
Audio drivers, chipset, communication,

Aww nuts so many options for video driver, and network.
Really the easiset way for you to get it is to enter the service tag http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/...;l=en&s=gen

But if you want, you can download sisoft sandra to scan and tell you about what hardware your laptop has... but thats like the hard way
