US beat Denmark today 3-1 in a friendly at the Home Depot Center. Landon, Jonathan Bornstein and Kenny Cooper scored for the US. The US did pretty well with pretty a roster made of up pretty much all-MLS players.

Feb. 7th the US will be taking on Mexico in Glendale, AZ. Over 50,000 people are expected with most probably cheering for Mexico.

Anyways, it was nice seeing the US back in action again after their dismal WC showing. Coach Bradley put together a decent roster for today's friendly.

Video of Justin Mapp breaking down the D and crossing to Bornstein.

I like how Donovan seemed to be looking for support even when he had a clear breakaway. Hilarious.

Albright was horrendous and we were dominated most of the game. I must say though, it's pretty pathetic when then American B/C Squad can beat the Mexico A Squad that had 14 World Cup players on their roster. Mexico did have better chances though, mainly because Rolfe was terrible, Convey and Dempsey weren't fit, Clark is inexperienced and that was the worst line of backs i'd seen since 1994. Bornstein is growing on me though.

Timmay had his brain fart like 10 minutes into the game but luckily nobody took advantage. When the hell is he going to get over that? He could be such an elite keeper if he could just stop with the excessively soft goals.

Good job at not getting Cooper on the roster too. Why get the young forward with huge potential some experience against elite competition?

Anyway, I so want to see the full squad play just once. I'm shocked that we actually won.

On a side note, way to show some class Oswaldo, trying to slide tackle Johnson after Donovan juked you out of your jock. Classy Mexico as always.

QUOTE
Emotions flared late, with Marquez and U.S. forward Eddie Johnson exchanging shoves. After the final whistle, the Mexicans strode off the field without shaking the U.S. players' hands or exchanging jerseys, as is customary. "The sportsmanship -- it would be nice if you guys [reporters]and the Mexican press talked about it, because it's really poor," Donovan said. "When we lose to them there, we shake their hands and say, 'Good job.' There's none of that reciprocally, and it's kind of disappointing."

Indeed, Marquez gave the United States little credit for the victory. "They were a little opportunistic and stayed in their own end for the majority of the match, but they did beat us," Marquez said. "Considering the tactics that they utilized, I think that is the credit I would give them considering the fact that on the field, they were not superior to us."

did Twellman get a chance to play?
I'm guessing he still isn't quite match fit after that hernia(?)

Twellman didn't play. Rolfe got enough time to prove that he still needs a lot of work.

Sore losers is an understatement.

CARACAS, Venezuela -- The United States will open the Copa America on June 28 against Argentina.
The U.S. Soccer Federation announced Tuesday night that the Americans were placed into a group with the Argentines for the first round of the 12-nation tournament, the championship of South America. The U.S. team and Mexico are invited guests.

Mexico will play Brazil on June 27, the USSF said. Venezuela, the host country, plays the tournament opener against Bolivia on June 26.

The remainder of the first round will be determined during Wednesday's draw. The tournament will be played in nine Venezuelan cites and concludes July 15.

The United States last competed in the tournament in 1995, when it finished fourth.

at halftime...1-1. USA's defensive line is looking a bit shaky. Ching took it hard across the nose.

yea, that knee to the face was owchhh
but he looked HOT with his shirt off tongue.gif

both USA and Ecuador are bit weak in the back, but luckily Conrad made some good plays to keep Ecuador from scoring
...missed the first 10 minutes, which incidently, is where all the scoring happened dry.gif
USA needs to pass better...and take advantage of the weaknesses in Ecuador's d

and Wynalda's Yellow Card Red Card
o snap, he yellow carded Alexi ohmy.gif
I can see why, and I agree....lets see some drama now
haha, jk...no drama please
