This section is so neglected.... well better late than never!
x_lisaa - I'd try a different media player like Media Player Classic or VLC player.
Original Doll - You need to upgrade your Windows Media Player to version 9 or 10. Do a Windows update to get it.
Exclusive. - If the file type is unknown then download and install the K-Lite codec pack Full Version. That should cover nearly all codecs you may be missing.
meabxwb - I'd have to see the file for myself to see why you're only able to play half the video. But I'd first reinstall your codecs with the K-Lite Codec Pack Full Version... then possibly switch to a different media player like Media Player Classic or VLC player to see if the problem is related to your media player or not.
jinroe725 - VLC player can playback incomplete files.
tokio - Media Player Classic can playback SRT files automatically with your video as long as both filenames are the same (like for example
movie.avi &
movie.srt... the player will load the SRT file automatically in this case cuz filenames are the same).
koumi - If you've installed DirectVobSub then it SHOULD automatically load up the SSA file for you when you playback in GOM Player. If not, check to see if there's some video quality adjustments in GOM Player that you can set. I do not use GOM Player so I'm unfamiliar with it but I know in Media Player Classic you need to have it using VMR7 or VMR9 in order for subtitles to work. If you're using Overlay or something generic then subtitles will not show up.
sccy - It's difficult to troubleshoot your problem without having the files there for me to play around with. All I can suggest at this point is to try a different media player like Media Player Classic or VLC player. Note in VLC Player you may need to load up the subtitle file manually in Settings > Preferences > Video > Subtitles/OSD.
Shiget^ - For that pink screen problem, I recommend you read my instructions on how to make FFDSHOW do all your xvid/divx decoding for you by
setting all stable formats to libavcodec. There's a good chance that'll fix your problem.
aznscrewball - Install the K-Lite Codec Pack Full Version.
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm That should give you nearly all the codecs you'll ever need. It's a good idea to redo that ffdshow thingie I suggested to you in that other thread.
Genuine - The upside-down video problem is probably caused by the Divx codec. I'd suggest reinstalling it or using a different version of Divx than the one you have now. That should solve your problem.
kookoo - To load up subtitles in VLC Player goto Settings > Preferences > Video > Subtitles/OSD. Then load up your subtitle file from there.
spork - It's possible your computer is too slow, but if you install FFDSHOW and
set all stable formats to libavcodec for the 3 main codecs [xvid, divx, h264] then you may be able to play the files alot better. FFDShow basically is alot faster than the original xvid and divx codecs at playing back video files in those formats. Give it a shot. The instructions on how to do all that is on the previous page.
L1L_M1Z_SUJ1N - It's surprising that it would say that since most computers should already have Microsoft's PCM audio codec already installed. But install the K-Lite Codec pack full version and see if the problem goes away.
